Issue w/ Sync3 Bluetooth/CarPlay calls: microphone volume

Same issue here with CarPlay microphone and has done it from day one. I have a 2018 Raptor, and a 2019 F250 that doesn’t have the problem.

I’ve spent the last 3 weeks at the dealer with no resolve and Ford stating this is a “normal characteristic” of CarPlay.

The service tech was able to replicate the issue with both my phone and another iPhone I provided. Unfortunately they replicated the issue with several new trucks on the lot as well, meaning the software on the new Sync would be this issue. No fix in sight to my knowledge.
This truly sucks, mine disconnected in the middle of a call today on a road trip. I shouldn't have to use my AirPods in the truck. Hugely disappointed.

It’s not a characteristic of CarPlay. It’s a characteristic of these Tremor trucks. This needs a recall. Ford is losing major trust with this issue. Nobody can hear me when if call. This means that everyone I talk to gets a bad feeling towards new Ford Super Duties. It’s bad marketing, it’s frustrating, and Ford needs to get this resolved.
I also don’t want to see dealers tearing apart trucks trying to independently find the issue. Ford alone needs to find the root cause of the problem and publish a correct and specific fix.

Agree 100%, it’s not CarPlay. I’m beating on Ford Quality Dept and my dealer to push the issue.

Anyone have any updates...........?
Took mine to the dealer knowing they had no solution.
Best they could tell me was it is more prevalent with newer phones and to keep bringing it up when in for service just in case a fix becomes available.
I'm fed up with it, anyone tried the linkswell and if so, is it without issues or is it glitchy too?

I think the “new phone” thing is a false narrative. My iPhone X is from 2017, and my audio issues are so bad with CarPlay that it’s unusable. My phone is from 4 years ago... pretty sure that’s an “old” phone. I have let Covert Austin know of the issue. Hopefully the dealers will talk to reps from Ford and start working on a recall.

While not totally related in all cases I don't think; this is an issue I'm currently battling. When using Android Auto and I received calls there is no volume on either end of the call. None at all completely silent. This does fix it:

tldr go into your phone settings in Sync3 and change the ring tone to use your existing phone ringer not one of the ones built into Sync3. Phone calls will work as normal via AA. Not sure about Carplay, but would be interesting to test.

The only other problem I've run into is it seems that setting gets reset often back to default sync ringer (it also resets and turns off my ambient lighting which is another pain point).

Hoping for a Sync3 update soon to resolve it.

I've tried with 3 different iPhone's and all of them encounter this issue or another on the Tremor, while working flawlessly on other vehicles. SYNC3 + CarPlay is buggy. Glad it's not just me.

Fwiw... ‘21 F250 Tremor Lariat, iPhone 12 Pro Max, using the cplay2air wireless dongle... and getting complaints from folks on other end of the call about me sounding like I am in a tunnel... thought it might be the dongle, so I’ll be trying a cable CarPlay connect next time I’m in the truck... but based on comments above, problem seems to persist when using the cable...

I drove a new loaner F-150 while my windshield recall was being dealt with and used wireless CarPlay in the Sync 4 system. It was awesome, sounded great, people could hear me very well and system response was far faster than what’s in my Tremor.

So I have a 21 KR Ultimate Tremor 350, I ordered. I have an 11 promax i phone with every update possible. I have the issue with being on carplay or bluetooth. I did have Waze running both times, so I will try that. I was a duramax guy for years, a new truck each year and had no issues with 7 trucks straight and I use them. I want to love this truck, but this causes headaches as does the constant alarms of advance track and hill start and that mess. TO be transparent, I travel for work and rent a ton of vehicles that are brand new. Two new dodges, one truck, one charger, no issues. Chevy truck, no issues. Audi car, no issues. My personal 2020 BMW M2C, no issues. Minor issues, but maddening!!!!

Guess I should note that the next time I'm travelling through MN. Run the entirety of I-35 up and down MN a couple of times a year.
Illegal in Texas too.
