Issue w/ Sync3 Bluetooth/CarPlay calls: microphone volume

I updated to OS 14.6 and I no longer have any microphone issues on phone calls with CarPlay. I am using the USB cable and also have Bluetooth on at the same time.
What version of sync?

I just tried this and my wife reported that she could hear me just fine. Is this problem officially solved?

What about the full version number like what is shown here?
Settings > General > About Sync
Mine is
Sync 3.4
Build 21020
I tried it both wired USB to my wife and wireless CPlay2Air to my brother. They both reported that they could now hear me just fine. They have both previously report that I sounded distant or quiet when using CarPlay.

I happened to buy a new iPhone recently and that resolved almost all issues for me. (Only problem I have is Siri disconnecting when using wireless CarPlay, but works wired.)

It seems very likely to me that there’s a CarPlay compatibility bug Ford introduced in a 3.3 build that is persisting in all future builds.

I’m hoping it can be solved for on the Apple side.

iOS 14.6.0 directly addresses the microphone volume issue

iOS 14.6.1 addresses the wireless CarPlay disconnect issue

Some folks on other forums are still encountering other Sync/CarPlay issues but it’s clear that Apple is responding to bug reports so, as I keep saying, if you’re having issues report bugs to Apple. Ford isn’t going to help you and their dealers are clueless.

I have 2021 with same issue (2022 will get Sync 4 wireless CarPlay). I’ve read through the thread. Any updates as to true issue? Dealer replaced any hardware (mic) or Sync software flash resolved it? Any aftermarket mic upgrade that works?

I got excited based on what Soop said. Confirmed my iphone 11 Pro is up to date at software version 14.6. Just tried it and the other end said the mic volume is still super low. So frustrating!

My wife’s X pro is on 14.6 and I can’t hear her, but on my 12 pro, also on 14.6, they say they can here me just fine. So odd.

I have an 11 pro max on IOS 14.6
No improvement. I was also excited :(
However my wife does have an iPhone 12 I’ll try hers and see if it works on mine. Hers works fine her 18 raptor.

I read and tried everyone’s fixes to no avail. Here is what did work for me. I tested out turning my Bluetooth off when plugged into CarPlay. It worked so I made a shortcut automation when plugged into CarPlay turn Bluetooth off and and another to turn it back on when unplugging. It’s possible the low volume is due to signal cancellation from 2 different sources? Hope this helps.

This is awesome info, thanks for sharing. I'll give it a try today.

That’s promising. A reason I may not be experience this issue because I never paired my phone with the car via Bluetooth. (And I use CarPlay wireless which occupies that protocol.)

Since my last post, my iPhone has updated and the low mic issue has returned😡. I must be on 14.7 because update 14.7.1 is pending. So, I made the shortcuts to see if that is a permanent fix.

I have my Tremor for about 9 weeks now and running Bluetooth or CarPlay callers state my microphone level is extremely low almost unintelligible. Does anyone have these issues? It’s to a point where I can’t make calls through the sync system Bluetooth or CarPlay. I tried master reset and it doesn’t make a difference.
I am having the same issue going in tomorrow for service appt for it
