Unloaded obviously
Unloaded guns can't perform the intended function. I prefer operational status SAT. Always a loaded gun in the weapon storage area in case I'm forced there under duress. My tactics aren't for everyone.

Airguns have come a long way. I've got a .22 PCP with baffles. It's the perfect bunny killer.

Any time someone tells me they carry without a round in the chamber, I ask if they keep batteries in their flashlight. Always gets the old wheels turning... 😂

Hey buddy, I have a .300 blk setup up with a FRT and then I have a .223 setup with an echo trigger. They are fun and show stoppers but I really don't use them much since they can run through a ton of ammo. I prefer my SBRs with Geissele precision triggers, just my opinion.
Because FRT is basically just for fun.

SSA or -E? Or the budget-y G2S?

Probably the same folks who won't carry a Glock because it doesn't have an external safety.

1911 - Cocked and Locked

1911 - Cocked and Locked

Same. And of the humble collection of firearms in my safe posession, few are un-loaded. I mean, what good is it if not ready to go.

Elmer Keith felt the same way. An unloaded firearm was useless.

Our safety is between our ears. That said, like a few other well-above average intelligence colleagues of ours have posted very recently, "cocked and locked" - Condition One - for me, it's a single stack, two-safety, crisp trigger 1911... four of them (yeah, yeah, "Ya gotta bump those numbers up! Those are rookie numbers!").

The Four Rules (another Cooper contribution to our well being)

1. [Act as IF] All guns are always loaded
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you're not willing to destroy
3. Keep your finger off of the trigger 'til your sights are on target
4. Know your target and what lies beyond it

I remember when I bought my CCW and talking with friends and family… I had to demote a lot of people who I held I high regard. They were loosing their mind I bought my gun intended for CCW without thumb safety switch/external safety. I let them talk and said if you want it on your and will train that way fine. But in the heat of the moment I don’t want my life/families life to come down to that flick while drawing and presenting while in a fight/flight adrenaline situation.

I went on to hold out my pointer/trigger finger and said this here is my safety. I keep it off/away from the trigger until I intend to pull.

The looks I got like I head 3 heads… 🤦🏻‍♂️. To each their own. Hunting rifle and shotgun I’m all for a safety. For CCW I am fine without for reason above and that all quality holsters will fully cover trigger and trigger area.

The holster and my finger are my external safeties. The second the gun clears, it's show time 💅

Also thanks forum. This recent gun thread chatter over the weekend got me curious to stray away from truck stuff while on call and found a new grip module for my p365xl.

Not that I don’t love my macro frame with xl slide. But I’ve gone back towards the point of being/thinking while I like the macro it takes a small gun and makes it fuller size. So I stumbled upon Mirzon hybrid grip module

This will give me XL grip length with macro rail. Additionally I like the bigger beaver tail (cue Optimus), and the trigger guard serrations.

I have mag guts +2 kits for my mags and if I like the grip can even run 15rd mad that fit flush with an aluminum adapter plate from company. If I need more than 15rds I’m beyond likely legally explaining having no option than keep pulling the trigger and at that point all bets are off and reloads are coming…

Yep. If you’ve upholstered you better be committed to pulling cuz at least you’re likely brandishing….

Last resort is reach for what in holster….

Biggest thing I remember to this day from my CCW class is the instructor who was retired SWAT and expert witness for these things- “situation determines/dictates tactics”. Made it simple in that not every situation is reproducible to say same answer if justified or not to use weapon. But you better make sure it’s your last resort or make sure the reason you’ve pulled it is one you’re willing to live with (I.e. defending wife/kids and in your heart you know you did right and even if found wrong you will live with it sort of thing while legal teams fight for you).

I have a friend who is a gun fanatic. Has lord knows how many guns of all types and I never want to sit near him on a dove field. He goes to the indoor range on a regular basis to shoot pistols. One day he was at the range with his Glock. He was practicing drawing the gun and shooting. At some point between the holster and raising the gun he pulled the trigger. This is a guy that shoots 1000s of rounds a year thru his pistols. The bullet shattered his femur and was 1.5” from the artery that would have sent him to Jesus. Took him months to get back walking. I own a P320 and am considering another striker fired piston but I always think about the lack of a manual safety on a firearm after my friend’s experience.

My flashlights don't use batteries 🤪.

My guns in pic that are not loaded are , air rifles, shoot slugs, from ,.22 cal up to .72 cal. Used for target shooting, deer and hog hunting. We have young children around here. Too young to learn about guns as of yet. Now my real bullet shooting pistol, it is loaded, and in a safe accessable area , that the children cannot get too.

Looking for a good truck gun besides my 9mm. What do y’all recommend? 5.56 pdw, 300 Blackout pdw, 9mm pcc, 45 acp pcc?
