What have you 3D printed?

Starting cal setting enabled? Do you mind elaborating. I'm new to terminology but am learning fast.
FYI - i'm using the Bambu Slicer.

When i choose to start a print it asks me if i want to do flow calibration. I've run it with and without and it makes no difference.
It always does bed leveling so I know thats not the issue. I did have warping issues early on but had addressed them.

The ironing is working out but its still not quite where i want it.
I was talking about these check boxes. Try slowing it down more to see if that helps. Could always be crappy filament. Could try just setting to .2 strength profile for ASA and slowing down outer wall to 45.

oh man, im jealous. I wish i could get my printer to connect. Believe its something with a firewall and havent dug into it yet. I'm having to use a microsd to get files to the printer

However, those checkboxes are available everytime when I select a file to print, except AMS. i dont have the AMS.
I always uncheck timelapse but leave leveling and flow cal checked.

EDIT:

I'm printing Bambu Lab ASA filament with a .4mm hardened steel nozzle on textured PEI plate.
My temp settings are 110C for the bed and 273C for the nozzle.
My parts print extremely nice the entire way. Its only when it starts to cap the top does it go south.

Got my X1C a week ago and so far it is awesome.
I've printed PLA, PETG, & TPU without any problems.

My spools of ASA & ABS arrived yesterday, so I haven't tried them yet.
I'll see if I have some time and try the ASA later today.
Get a dryer. ASA/ABS is pretty sensitive to moisture.

also... i dl'ed a settings file for my Bambu Slicer that straight up changed the game on warping, at least for what i'm printing. (see attached. drop the .txt)
I'm printing little pucks and the walls were not straight b/c of warping (brim, bed temp, heat soak printer - nothing helped). This file introduced fan settings. I've always been printing with zero fans for ASA. the walls of my pucks are near perfect now.
Now, i just gotta get that top surface good. Ironing works okay BUT... even after modifying the inset, it still "shaves" the top and doesnt produce an acceptable look. structurally, these things are just fine.

I'm trying to get my printer connected so i can follow what this guy lays out regarding flow calibration. See if that helps any.

Not sure about PETG but ASA/ABS run higher hotend temps... if you are switching from ASA/ABS to PLA.... let your printhead cool down a good bit.
I've made this mistake twice. didnt know the first time. Forgot the second. My memory has been recalibrated though!

The drive gear pulling the filament will get hot. If you put a low temp filament in like PLA after a hotter filament without letting it cool down... the filament will liquify in the drive gear, not extrude and then you get to take it all apart to clean it out.. which is not fun.

Learn from my mistake... s🤦‍♂️

Just got a used 3D printer from a friend... its a Creality Ender 3 V2. Going to find some small items to print first, as I have no clue how to use it yet. Downloaded Ultimaker Cura and just barely looking at how to use it now.

What is something usefull for our trucks that would be a good starting point while learning, so at least the filament isn't going to waste while learning this thing?

The gas cap holder, just up in this thread.

You will end up wasting plenty of filament. Don't worry about it. Print things you need, want or look cool and just learn as you go.

Nice first printer! Check the printables.com and thingiverse.com links. Print yourself some hooks for the garage. Good to get started on simple things before you venture into the automobile market 😀

I downloaded them. But being txt files the software I was told by by friend to use wont recognize the file. Going to look into other software.

I saw some vids that show how to turn soda bottles into filament. Would definitely save some money on prototyping 🤷

I saw something on social about that. I thought they were joking.

I get my PLA for $13/kg shipped to my house. I dunno if thats cheap or expensive but I DO KNOW its well below the threshold of me wanting to figure out how to take coke bottles i DONT HAVE and turning them into filament.

🤣 I only drink the little bottles of auquafina/Celeste water. But, if I had a 3d printer, I would definitely try to use them 😉🤣🤣

Theres really nothing to learn that ISNT going to waste filament.

Start with PLA. Its forgiving and super cheap. Well, maybe not coke bottle cheap but... pull back on the infill and you MIGHT just flirt with the electricity to print costing more than the filament.

Its literally, load machine with filament, click print. The trick is understanding the various characteristics of the filaments. ASA/ABS/PC... i've not quite mastered them. I've found workarounds to making my prints turn out acceptable. For instance, the HF LED Ditch light reflector cover i make... couldnt print them with any quality laying flat to save my life. stand them up on end, MONEY.

Ender 3s dont come with an enclosure. thats the first thing i'd make/get. The filaments youll end up printing for truck stuff (PC/ASA) youll need an enclosure.

Might be able to find cheaper on Amazon but its worked for me.

edit: didnt mean to reply to blade

Yeah, I'm talking outta my "YouTube". I wish I had a printer to play with😩. But I would try anything to save money if I did. Only so I could play as much as possible though .. 😜

You just have to change the .TXT file extension to STL or 3MF depending on which one it is. The Ender 3 V2 is a great machine, that's what I currently run at my house and it sounds like you got a great deal. Printing is a fun hobby and coming up with useful applications can also be a hobby in itself! On my Ender 3 I added the touch sensor for bed leveling and upgraded some components like the filament spool holder and lead screw stabilizer. One place to start would be searching for upgrade parts that you can print for your printer. Happy to help with any settings or Cura questions you have. Even with a remote drive extruder and no enclosure the Ender 3 can print PETG and TPU.

I just ordered a K2 plus combo with the CFS so we'll see how that compares to the X1C once it comes in. I have Solidworks so I'm also able to design my own parts. Usually they're just cosmetic items like fridge magnets but working on a case for my air pressure gauge and auto deflators currently. Just getting ideas for parts can be tricky but this forum can help with that too!

Thanks for the tip on the file name. Will try to print one tomorrow.

I originally got it from him with the intent to print the cup holder insert for the, 23+, then after getting the printer yesterday, couldn't find the file... then realized... its probably too long to print on the ender anyway. Tonight I was trying to print a holder for the kids switch controllers, but the 4 controller holder is too big to print unless I do it at an angle and waste more material on support than the item itself. Right now all the filament isn't have is PLA... so will need to get other material types as I get into it.

Doing my first print currently of a fidget toy for the kid.

I have the artistic ability to screw up a stick figure, so not sure I want to venture into designing my own parts.
