Rough Country Hidden Winch Mount

This

I don’t have any pics but I bent the RC mount to the point that it pinches the box between the mount and crossmember. Then I put some self tappers into the bottom and used SS zip ties just in case

I didn’t want to cut and redo the connectors so I just used grommets around the cables and RTV’d them to the box

What box did you use for your relay?

Yea I used one like that. There's a bunch of different brands on Amazon selling the same thing.

I mounted the box behind the grille to the center support.

Nope. It’s just too many modifications to make it work, even if it is a little better than the RC winch.
You still have to cut the edge of the mount or planetary housing to fit the winch in.

Then you have to cut the fairlead mount to even turn a cut clutch handle. Also, it hits the power cables on the opposite side so the whole fairlead is canted a bit.

I did have an idea after the fact that might help you. Cut the clutch handle where it makes a 90 with a band saw. Drill, tap and thread both sides for a decently sized piece of thread all that is long enough to clear the bumper. Then put a lock nut on either side of the clutch handle pieces to keep it from turning. You wouldn’t have to alter the fairlead mount and would still be able to turn the handle easy rather than needing pliers
Yeah that seems like I mess. Might just return it before I start messing with it and grab the RC winch. Sounds like it’s a bolt on with no issues from what I’ve seen guys do

I generally love projects. This one was a little more than I wanted, though. I would definitely do that.

I bought the rough country mount first when I was looking at adding a winch. After getting it and seeing what would be needed to use the badlands winch I returned it and went with the Gorman Tech mount instead. I used an Amazon relay box to relocate the relay and wireless receiver behind the grille.
Link for the relay box?

Does anyone have photos showing how they made the power connections at the battery side on a 6.7?

Thanks.

For those that relocated the box, did you have to purchase a new relay or does it move over from the original box on the winch?

The original relay and wireless receiver from the badlands winch can be uncontested from the factory mounting box and relocated. They use a standard winch relay just installed into their special box.

This is on my passenger side battery. The negative clamp has a M6 stud on it from the factory and I drilled the Positive clamp to add another M6 bolt there. I used all of the wires included with the Badlands winch.

Thanks. I drilled out the exact locations for my twin ARB compressors. I ordered one of the Knukonceptz ultimate battery terminals recommended by @andy_b. I'll post pics when I finish.

recommendation. I'll post pics when I finish.

Everything fits with clearance, but you do NEED to change out the winch top plate to the "Tie Rods"
Warn #86473 for proper function.
Hey, just for a little clarification, why are the tie rods necessary?

I already own a Warn Evo 12S from my last truck, but I'm not sure what benefit the tie rod kit gives.

My biggest issue is and its my fault for not seeing this sooner is the factory control box mount will not work with the way the winch is mounted because the line comes off the top so I had to purchase the Warn tie bar kit to replace it hoping it would clear and it does not the first wrap coming off the winch about 15' is useless because to rubs the tie bar, I guess you could shorten the line but I am not right now maybe later on I will.
Hi there! Thanks for your write up.

I already own a Warn VR EVO12S and am looking to install it. I was just wondering if you could provide some clarification about why it is necessary to use the Warn Tie Bar Kit. In this post you mentioned it is necessary, but in a later post you mentioned you thought it might be okay without the tie bar kit?

My winch line is already wound nice and tight, so I'm curious if I can get away without the tie bar kit. but another member also said the tie bar kit was NEEDED. I'm just curious as to why! Thanks in advance for your time.

The rod is a spacer needed to stabilize the drum under load.

The tie bar is to stabilize the winch while using it . I did post later on about using the stock X brace the angle that it sits will make it very close to hitting the X brace but it looks like it will clear, I have not changed mine yet so I cant say for sure that it will clear.

Has anyone figured out if the Rough Country mount will work on a 2024 Tremor? Called Rough Country and the tech said no go on a 2024?

Figured if it would work, someone here would know better?

Installed on a 2024 F350. 7.3 gas motor. It fit perfectly.

If I read your post correctly, then what you installed should fit my 2023 F250 6.8 gaser. If so, what exactly did you order?

Thank you,
JDAndrson

I ordered SKU 51119 directly from Rough Country. The 2020-2022 KIT fit the 2024 F350 with the 7.3L - no issues

For the 12K winch is SKU PRO12000S
