Plastic junk roof trim broken!

Extremely common. Ford's fix is to remove the back window and replace it, so most skip that invasive method. Instead, use a tube of RTV and tape it down with masking tape for a few days.

Just noticed my roof molding came loose or popped out, looks like the back window needs to be removed to reinstall, called my dealer and they said they would order one and the body shop would install it. So far this and left headlight was replaced as it was not sealed properly, only have 1300...

I will say though, you're gonna have to use about half the tube. I then taped it down with Gorilla tough tape overnight and bam! Woke up hard the next morning. I mean, it worked great :

I used a small amount of silicone glue right behind it near the eyelit https://www.target.com/p/1-0-fl-oz-glue-with-precision-tips-clear-e6000/-/A-83706129#lnk=sametab

Then some super glue on the plastic eye itself(used a needle to be precise) then taped it down with some painters tape. Stayed down when I took off the tape in a couple days and so far so good.

Another guy on here fixed his with RTV. Not worth having the dealer tear out the rear window and have the issue come back again later.

Seriously, both of mine are like this and I have zero interest in having the rear glass removed.

I still need to do mine, thanks for the reminder. May have already been covered, but from what I remember in the original posts about this problem, you need to scuff (sand) the plastic trim & body to get it to hold the best with the RTV.

I didn't do any of that. I just pumped that stuff underneath it, taped it over night and voila!

I didn't scuff, but cleaned it well and let it dry good. Then about a half tube of RTV, making sure it was thick enough get both the foam pad that was on the trim and the trim itself. Then I taped it down good with blue painter's tape. It rained next day, so I removed the tape after it dried up and retaped it. I let it sit for about a week and all is good.

I didn’t scuff or sand , didn’t want to disturb the factory clear coating. I cleaned the mating surfaces with rubbing alcohol once completely dry I started the adhesion process.

I just noticed the rear mounting tab is torn/broken on the passenger side on mine - typical problem area.

I'll be employing the rtv solution as well.
