Plastic junk roof trim broken!

I must not used enough of this product because my trim piece simply won't stay in place
I used half the bottle and VHB tape in a shaded area. Left it overnight and hasn't moved since. You'll get it!

I used about half the tube and then taped it down with blue painters tape, left it be for about 2 days, peeled the tape off and all has been good. Key thing is to try and get it clean, no dust, dirt, leftover car wash/wax.

doing some mods today

rear plastic "C" clip is busted

lined it up and used tape to hold it

the mixed up some of my go to fix anything

yep J-B Weld

first coat on the inside
2nd coat on the outside tomorrow

Does anyone have a part number for this trim piece I broke both mine when installing the roof rack. Ive had a leak i can't seem to track down initially thought it was the clearance lights replaced those and it's still happening added some rtv around the roof rack mounting points and still leaking. So I want to see if I remove the rack leave it off and add this trim piece back on as it currently is not on the truck if that helps. Its so frustrating being unable to track it down.

Per chatGPT
Left (driver side): HC3Z-2651729-AC
Right (passenger side): HC3Z-2651728-AD

Are those clips included in this that secure it to the roof?

From my limited interactions : The smaller corner section is attached to the larger longer run, then the other end is under a rivet. So it's not a clip. 😡 😡 😡:unsure::unsure::unsure:

I used regular ol super glue from the dollar store. The cheap stuff. Been fine for over a year now.

Mine are holding strong...so far. I typically look at them when washing the truck and the passenger side is a little more worrisome than the drivers, but I cannot hear it moaning with fatigue yet.

If and when it happens it will most likely be the passenger side, and it has nothing to do with going through an automatic car wash. It’s a super easy fix with a tube of Black Permatex, blue painter’s tape and a paper towel soaked with rubbing alcohol to clean up the excess. More is better when applying the adhesive. Squeeze the excess out when pushing the trim into place and wipe off the excess that squeezes out, tape it down with plenty of tape for 24 hours. Even if you don’t get it perfectly cleaned up along the edges, the Permatex looks just like the trim and you can’t see the repair from the ground anyway. 👍

This clear Gorilla Glue Construction Adhesive has been holding well for about six months now. Truck is parked outside 24/7.

Nope, not on the shifter, but It’s worked great on some other C3 repairs. So far I haven’t been disappointed in Gorilla brand products.

This is an easy fix… Just lift and pop the entire trim piece out from it’s brackets, then use some RTV or glue and insert the rear trim piece back behind the rivet first, then re-attach the entire strip. No need to order a new piece, no need to remove the rear window… Game, set, match! Funny that this post began in 2021 yet here we are in 2026 and they’re still coming off the factory line with the same misaligned trim.

I had to remove both of them when installing the Leitner roof rack and then used 3M General Trim adhesive on the ends near the rear window. So far seems to be holding well.
