Hey everyone,

@AZsurveyor and I are heading out to run the famous New River Canyon Trail just north of Phoenix on Saturday, November 14th, and we want our Tremor brothers and sisters to join us for an awesome day on the dirt!

Whether your truck is highly modified or completely stock, this run is for you. The trail features some famous, challenging sections, but every single one has an easily navigable bypass that a stock Tremor can handle.

Part of this trail is on State land that requires a permit. I have a group permit that will cover everyone in attendance, you do not need to purchase a separate permit.

Here are the trip details:

  • 📍 Morning Meetup: 8:30 AM at the Largest Sundial in America: 8 E Sundial Cir, Carefree, AZ 85377 (Coordinates: 33.82461, -111.9212).
    • We will "wheels-up" and depart at 9:00 AM sharp.

  • 🏁 Trailhead Start: It’s about a 50 minute drive from the sundial to the actual trailhead (Coordinates: 34.00909, -111.87988).
    • We will airdown our tires at the start of the trailhead.

  • 1791401596868.webp
Communication: We will be communicating via GMRS radios (channel 16) during the trail run.
    • if you do not have a radio, I will bring extras and can lend you one for the day.

  • 🥪 Lunch: We’ll be stopping for a scenic picnic lunch along the trail, so make sure to pack your own food and plenty of water.
    • Bring a chair, I will bring a pop up canopy and table as well.

  • 🛑 The Finish Line: We estimate finishing around 4:00 PM near I-17 and Table Mesa Road (Coordinates: 33.96852, -112.12534).
    • We will air back up at the end of the trail - If anyone needs a compressor to air up, we will have you covered.

Drop a comment below if you're in so we can get an accurate head count. Looking forward to hitting the dirt with you all!

Sounds like fun may have to look into a place to stay. Wife wants to visit a friend in Kingman Az
It would be awesome if you can make it!

Should be a great run, a great time, and even better if we get some weather prior or the day of.

I need to get out, break the routine and see some lights!

Basically, anyone who goes is going to see what your daily commute looks like. :ROFLMAO:

@Toxophilite This looks like a ton of fun. Not sure I'll be able to make this one, but will have to add this to the list for the future.

Don't threaten me with a good time.

I know that I can make it to Flagstaff in a day if I'm willing to make it a really long day. I'll take a look and see if I can make it work.

@OmahaBravo @Godzilla/Tremornator - you thinking of jumping in on this one?

Might hop over from San Diego. Any other females going? Significant other is worried that the is a dudes only trip.
Definitely not being set up as a dudes only outing, please bring the significant other!

My wife typically goes to these with me (running joke is that it's her Tremor), but she'd have to sit this one out if I end up being able to make it.

That said, we've been to quite a few meet-ups where she's the only woman in attendance and has always had a good time. If your wife is into off-roading she'll have fun regardless of the male/female mix.

Man, I don’t think I’ll be able to get to this one. November is gonna be a busy month for us

Well I hope you can join us. It’s only one day, and I know it will be a ton-o-fun!

I'm interested. Be pretty cool to finally meet @AZsurveyor. Nov is a busier month for us. Let me look at my schedule/talk with the wife.

I'm either gonna be moving out of state, or up in unit 9 for late archery elk and then moving out of state. I really hope it's with the elk. Lol

good vid

shows the 6/10 obstacle & shows there is a by-pass

also
explains if you get split from the group

This is a great video and it does bring up a great point about being separated from the group.

In 1998 I joined an off-road group and on the second outing with them I got separated (they were faster on the trail than I was) and they literally just left me behind. No one ever came back to check to see if I was ok. This was before GPS and there was no cell service. Luckily I found my way out (obviously I’m still here) but I was pissed.

I went to the next meeting and let “trail leader” have it in front of everyone, walked out and never went back.

It is important to be aware and thoughtful of everyone on the trail with you, and to never assume they know what you know or think like you do.

You show up as a group, you leave as a group. Real men would know this, you weren't with real men.

"No one left behind" is actually pretty simple principle to practice.

You can hunt in Minnesota.

You won't have trails in Minnesota like New River.

Why would you want to meet that Dick?!

Uhh, no. I’ve been trying for 8 years to get drawn. No way I’m giving that up for a trail run. Haha!
