Plastic junk roof trim broken!

Mine is broken too.

I could still get it repaired under warranty but chances are you'll end up with a new leaky rear window.
I'm going to repair it myself with black RTV before taking it to a dealer at 9am and having to wait until 5pm.
The dealer can't fix it themselves. The dealer told me they had to call someone about the glass??!!??
Probably better/cheaper to outsource. The glass companies can deal with windows with their eyes closed. At the dealer near me, I actually had the glass guy go there - use their bay - and replace my windshield.

IMHO Outsourcing the windshield repair makes sense, but outsourcing the rear window or side windows not so much.
The dealer told me they have to break the rear window and replace it with a new rear window???
If they can't get to the screws to remove the window, how do they get to the screws to attach the new window?

(not my video)

The rear window replacement may as well be as sucky as the windshield.

You can see the hidden trim screw that we need to get to here:

You are right... WHAT A MESS ..... and effort...

You really need an expert for this to make sure there is no leak later.

NO, NO, NO....

Three drops of silicon and it's done....

Use the black RTV and be done with it. Mine has been going strong for 4 1/2 years. No reason to have them replace the glass and mess something else up.

I'd want to take advantage while the back window is out and fold down the drivers side rear seat! Not sure why Ford can't put a reasonable release for the seat back. LOL

BuiltRight has you covered!

Fixed my passenger side one by cutting off the little tab for the rear window and used some 3M double sided tape.

It worked for a couple years and recently disappeared.

Of course the tab just popped off the drivers side now. I’m just going to use the 3M tape again, and order a new passenger side trim (cut the tab off and 3M tape of course.

Part of mine flew off at the tail end on passenger side. I ordered a new one and RTV it. Over $150 bux. Nuts

Yep…..common issue. Poor design. Mine goes back the first week in January. They have to pull the back window, re-rivet the trim piece back in place and then reinstall the window. A complete PITA!!
This hasn't happened to mine (yet) but I'd be nervous letting Ford service guys do that type of work. My experience is anytime you have the Ford techs perform non basic mechanical tasks they tend to f it up worse... resulting in leaks, rattles, scratches, misalignment, etc. If it were me I'd really consider the glue it back yourself option.

Mine did this a week ago. Amazing. What kind of glue do yall recommend?

Just noticed my roof molding came loose or popped out, looks like the back window needs to be removed to reinstall, called my dealer and they said they would order one and the body shop would install it. So far this and left headlight was replaced as it was not sealed properly, only have 1300 miles on the Tremor.View attachment 24040View attachment 24041
What year is this? Common thing unfortunately. Bad engineering.

Well, mine just did this. Passenger side. I had some 3M Emblem Adhesive sitting in the garage. If that doesn't hold, I'll grab some RTV and slather that puppy up.

Well, the emblem adhesive didn’t work. Not enough area to grab. I’ll grab some RTV in morning. Need to slather it up and fill the gap. Will also stick some on the bolt heads.

On closer inspection, there is a big bead of seam sealer right at the back of the channel which is what probably caused the failure. 😞

Clearly because your truck is sitting up in the jet stream now!
Good point. And of course it happened the day before Sedona ☹️.
