Heated seats not turning on with remote start

Wouldn't doing that kill one of the settings, though? For example, if I did what you suggest, wouldn't that mean I could never actually get to the low setting again?
yes but the discussion here was that peoples seats arent working. I think some are but they are on low and its not warm enough so if you make the low setting the medium then maybe people will have warm seats on remote start?

Ah I see. Ya that might indeed be the case. I guess someone could do it temporarily just to prove it, though I don't care enough to do it myself lol.

Finally got around to this! SCME is as-built, so don't know the addresses. What addresses would I look at for the low setting temps?

Confirmed that the HVAC setting was correct for my truck (heated and cooled seats with rear heated seats) and did the HVAC reset.

I'll keep y'all posted on whether it changed anything when I remote start the truck tomorrow morning.
Well I've had a few times remote starting the truck and I can't tell the difference. If it made one, it was extremely minor. Hopefully someone can get the software update and confirm a fix at some point.

I’m taking my truck in tomorrow for my new shocks and I’ll ask my tech if he’s heard anymore about the update

My truck is the same way this winter, winter number 3. When I remote start via key or app, the steering wheel is warm, the heat and fan are running, but the seat is cold as ice. As soon as I press the start button, the seat lights turn on and it starts warming up. I have had it set in auto since I got the truck and they would always be blowing air in the summer if over 95 outside and warm in the winter time.

I have not done any Forscan changes or taken the truck in for any updates, still have all three recall notices sitting on my desk. The only thing I can think of is that the truck's settings are at Auto for over the air Sync updates. Not sure if it ran one or not lately.

Erik
Exactly the same for me.

Mine was working, truck had to go in for a busted fuel line, this morning steering wheel was warm, seat cold. Setting is “on” for auto start for wheel and seats. Wonder if they flashed the truck while it was at the dealer?

+ 1 for no seat heat after remote start activation until I push the engine start button. I was also seeking resolution on another forum and based upon the responses there and here, this appears to be all over the board.

Rig: 22 F350 Limited, 6.7 PSD, CCLB, SRW
Built 9/2/22 (MC seat delete)
Dual Climate Control w/Heated/Cooled Seats and Heated Steering Wheel
Outside Temp this week during testing <30ºF, rig parked outside
Remote Start Setting: Instrument Cluster menu: Settings/Vehicle/Remote Start/Climate Control=Auto; Setting/Vehicle/Remote Start/Heated Seats Steering Wheel=Auto; Setting/Vehicle/Remote Start/Duration=15 minutes; and Setting/Vehicle/Remote Start/System=box checked
No FORScan changes have been made

Issue: No driver's side heat after remote starting the rig. Various tests I have tried this week and basically, remote start the rig, let it run for 10 min or so. No heat felt by hand on driver's seat. Steering Wheel is warm. I've tried "auto setting" and "last setting" etc., and neither makes any difference and still no drivers seat heat. What is puzzling me, is when I jump in the cab and push the start button, I can feel the seat starting to warm up after 1-2 minutes. Also when driving out and about, and I engage the seat heat, I can feel it get warm pretty quickly.

22 F350 Manual: Reviewed manual, page 146-147, and everything I am reading seems to suggest after remote starting the seat should start to heat. Specifically, p.165 has a note that states "Note: The heated seats may remain on after you remote start your vehicle, based on your remote start settings. The heated seats may also turn on when you start your vehicle if they were on when you switched your vehicle off." Not sure what "may remain on" means, but taken in context with other sections of the manual, I would think the seat should start to warm. If it was designed to not start to heat after a remote start, then why have the settings in the instrument cluster menu? Makes no sense to me.

I'm a newbie to FORScan, but watched a few YT vids, so I configured PIDs in FORScan to monitor the temp of drivers seat back and seat bottom. Ran another test as described above, temp outside <30º, and let it run for 10 min, and then I pushed the start button, and as you can see from the graph from FORScan, seat stays at a constant temp around 52º (note I started this test after the heated was a bit warmer from prior tests), and then spikes right after I push the start button to 100º.

Local dealer had my rig for 4 days and could not figure it out and apparently the tech has reached out to Ford engineering for testing as the service manual apparently does not have a testing procedure for this issue. We shall see.

Just wanted to contribute to this thread with actual PID data for those that are experiencing this too.

Mine started the no seat heat thing on remote start after the last Sync 3 Update. Not sure if it is related but I definitely noticed it started this after that. Mine is a 2020 and worked fine until this.

For those with the issue- multi contour seat delete?
Not me. :( With a Lariat I never had the option for multi-contour seats. Interesting if that's a factor, though.

My 22 Lariat Ultimate has same issue. Build date 11-22.
no option for multi contour seat.

I have the same problem with my platinum and I have the mc seats

Lariat ultimate; does not start heating till start button pressed

Upon further messing around, I tend to agree with RedZilla that the seats DO heat but only to a low setting. I do NOT want to raise my low setting, because often the high and medium are too much.

I have been testing this remote start no seat heat issue for about 2 weeks now. I wanted to eliminate subjectivity and rely upon data, so being new to FORScan, I watched a bunch of YouTube vids, and set up some PID monitoring for seat heat temp as well as the ambient air temp sensor. As you can see, a -4*F ambient air temp when I ran this particular test. My remote start settings are Climate Control=Auto, Seat and & Wheel = Auto. Top red line is ambient air temp, green and blue are driver's seat cushion and back temp, pink and yellow passenger seat cushion and back temp. Testing process: setup FORScan logging, remote start, then hop in cab and press button to start engine. As you can see, at least for me, there is zero change in the seat heat temp and remain constant. Where you see the green and blue line climb (driver seat temp) is where I pushed button to start the engine, and the temp immediately started climbing.

You might want to review a thread I started, but from the data I have collected it "appears" others are experiencing no seat heat on remote start until key-on or PTS.

I have the same issue with my seats; '22 F350 Platinum. Pressing the start button gets them fired up, but they're ice cold when I get in the truck.

Secondary question: How long should it take before the A/C blows warm/hot air? Even with a 10 minute remote start up, the air coming out of my vents is cold. I don't get warm air until I've actually been driving for about 5-7 minutes. Outside temps are in the teens and 20s....

that's because diesels take a long time to warm up, check the coolant temp after your 10 min remote start. if its not warm your not gonna get any good heat. I feel like after 1 remote start its decent, 2 remote starts and its starting to get warm and by 3 miles down the road its coming out pretty good. just really depends on how cold it is out. if its freezing its gonna take a long time for it to warm up

With the heat on auto setting, it doesn’t seem to blow any warm air until the engine coolant temperature is about 80 deg F. So depending on outside temperature and engine temperature when you start it (use block heater or not), it could take quite a bit of time. Block heater works awesome and the engine temp is almost 80 right away, even at -3F. Also, high idle kit helps a lot as well when set to 1500 rpm.

I can verify that my 2022 Lariat Ultimate does not start the seat warmers with a remote start. Tested this with my dads '22 Lariat Ultimate and his does not work either. Both of our trucks are set to auto for the remote start functions. Heated steering wheel will be warm and seats will be ice cold.

I'd be willing to bet some of our Forscan fiddling is a culprit. I have modified many settings and IN MY CASE the remote start will run heat at last setting, AND heated seats, but NOT heated wheel. This sounds opposite to pickleknuckles experience that wheel is ON, but not seats...
My truck has Forscan changes and my dad's does not. Neither of our heated seats worked on remote start.

No FORScan changes for me as well, complete OEM as-builts. I believe Ford has changed something, and I don't have any data to support that, but from the responses I have received and evaluated it "appears" rigs built after MY20 and primarily MY22, are hit or miss on seat heat after a remote start activation.
