Heated seats not turning on with remote start

maybe the module is programmed incorrectly from the factory ? this is forscan from a 21 F150, I looked at my as built and the line is correct for what I have.

Hmmmm. I decided to pay extra close attention this morning. 20 degrees outside. Remote start with app. Heated seat lights not on. Heater was blowing. Steering wheel hot. Seats were not ice cold. Could feel a little bit of heat but again lights for heated seats were not on and only slightly warm(could have been from vent heat but seems unlikely). Push the start button and seat lights came on. I did do an OTA update last week. 🤷‍♂️

hmmm I need to see if i have any updates available. I've only had the truck a short time, did you have to allow it to do an update or was it automatic

It was supposed to be automatic but I had to help it along by leaving the truck running at the house connected to internet.

One thing I have noticed is that the steering wheel does warmup faster than the seats. Maybe it is something to do with the padding. If you let it idle for 15+ minutes remotely, how are the seats?

Still cold. Only warmth I get for them until I press the button is from the fan blowing air.

Checked mine this morning, outside temps about 30. I had the truck in automatic at first. When I went out a few minutes into a remote start, the steering wheel was warm, the fan was blowing pretty hard and appeared to be on defrost and the seats only felt slightly warm. No indicators were lit. When I touch the ignition button the driver's seat heater lit up only, as well as the heated wheel indicator. The temp on the screen was set at 79.

I then turned everything to the settings I would prefer to be on a cold morning, set the system to last settings and shut down. Then I waited a while and did a remote start. Again after about 5 minutes running the wheel was warm, fan was on high, and the seats felt slightly warm. When I touched the ignition both seat heater lights came on, and once the screen booted it said temp was set at 80 where I left it and the seat heater lights both came on along with the steering heat indicator.

I'm still not sure what the settings are supposed to be with the automatic setting regarding ambient temps and function, but the seats did feel slightly warm. It may just come on at the lowest setting. On both system control settings no indicators are lit until you push the ignition button. Guess I will have to dig into the manual to see if there is a definitive answer.

To clarify for the thread: all HVAC lights remain off after remote starting until you hit the “Start” button.

There’s no temps on the temperature control knobs, no light on the “Auto” button for the fan speed, etc. So no light on the heated seat also makes sense.

I’m intrigued, though, as I’m pretty sure I’ve been having the same issue. I figured it was the seat taking a long time to warm up, but in the back of my mind thought there might be an issue. This thread helps confirm that.

My remote start setting is on “Auto”, not last used, though I can only confirm that for HVAC. I forget what heated seats and steering wheel are.

My seat indicator lights are set to high (illuminated) during a remote start, but they just don’t heat up until I press the Start button.

Well it seems like the answers are all over the place. Based on my last truck I thought it was normal for the seats to be warm from remote starting so either programming is all over the place ours aren’t working correctly.

I think the waters are officially mudded

I just checked mine. The seat and wheel setting has either “off” or “auto”. The climate has “auto” and “last setting”.
My seat and wheel are on auto and they do come on when I remote start, however the indicator lights don’t come on until I turn the ignition on
+1 exactly my settings and results.

I have 3 fords in my household, the SD, the explorer, and my fusion. all 3 of them heat the seats on remote start. one thing I will note is the seats are only on low setting during remote start. one thing you all could do is adjust the low temperature setting of the seat. my fusions low setting will burn your ass. my explorer and SD not so much.

also since you guys have forscan, go in and do a HVAC module reset.
I can't say that I know what or how to do this. Any suggestions?

Thanks for stating this clearly. I was trying to figure out how to eliminate the notion that the lights being off is a problem. It's not, it is designed that way.

Ha, agreed. I had a '21 Lariat (Tremor) and I am pretty sure the seats worked great with remote start. My current '22 Lariat was built in July and if the seats are working (on remote start), it's pathetic because that seat is cold!

When I get freed up later I’ll make a how to. Also I’ll show you the forscan codes to adjust the low setting

It has to be a programming issue. My wife’s 2017 SHO is nice and warm after a few mins of remote start.

My '22 F250 Platy doesn't heat seats on remote start either. My '17 F350 does.

If there’s this many trucks having issues with remote start heated seats there’s something not programmed right.

ok guys heres how you run a module reset in forscan click that and scroll down to HVAC and do the reset.

Look in your as built and check this setting it might have something to do with the heated seats my truck has a 1 there.
