I was at my son HS baseball tournament two weeks ago and walked out to the parking lot noticing many trucks had their fuel door opened.

I wasn’t sure if it was just kids screwing around or what, but I started to think adding some locking protections would be a small price to pay vs repairing the damages from someone tampering

When I had my OEM water separator on at the time I never had any issue. The amount of fuel drained was the amount within the OEM plastic housing. If you're concerned with it, just drain one quart, then close the yellow valve.
Thanks. What I was curious about was when I have to fully drain the separator to remove the filter. I will just try an experiment to see what happens...

I finally got around to filling up DEF since the truck has been “yelling” at me for weeks.

When I went to put my awesome locking DEF cap back on, just as I was aligning to get it centered, but not yet actually pressing down, I saw a black something go shooting off to my left. One of the three fingers lost its end!

Anyone else had this happen?

Will get you squared away.

Can't wait to get mine.

Is it common to have these things break? I see @BroncOh is on top of replacing the broken ones, which is great. It's just hope this isn't the norm.

Why do you need a locking cap? I've never had fuel or DEF stolen. Is this a thing?

Skimmed through but didn't see the answer or didn't look close enough - these fit the gas trucks, right? Any update on production of a non-green cap?
Fits yes, but am not producing Gas caps due to evaporative emissions. Way more paperwork and CARB to deal with.

Got it, thank you sir!

I have 40k miles on mine with no breaks, and the hiccup I did have while on the Road at 20k deep @BroncOh got it squared away. His products and Attention to detail with customer satisfaction is Top Tier status!

I will second @BroncOh's attention to detail. His rubbers have yet to break on me 🤪.

Thank you @BroncOh! I do love these caps.
Following up for the record.

@BroncOh has sent back my repaired DEF cap. It looks and works great. Totally professional service. I can’t say enough good things about this experience.

Thank you BroncOh.

Is the DEF cap vented (or is it supposed to be vented)?

The reason I ask is that recently, after a RV trip (about 300 miles towing), my DEF gauge was reading full (when I only had about 1/2 tank), the system did not seem to be injecting DEF (I was not hearing the ticking next to the DPF), and then I got a CEL. My phone said something to the effect that the reactant pressure was too low. After pondering all of this, I decided to remove the DEF cap on the hunch that maybe the tank was not venting. I had to pull the cap off and it turns out that the tank was indeed under vacuum.

I still went to the local gas station. Just as I pulled in, the CEL went off. They pulled a code (P2038). We went to the internet and saw that it was for "Reductant Injection Air Pressure Sensor". Then we went back to the truck and the code was gone and my phone now said everything was OK.

Over the next few miles, the DEF gauge went back to 1/2 tank, and I can hear the injector "ticking" every now and then at the DPF.

I put the old OE cap back on and everything seems to be OK. I experimented with the OE cap and it seems to have a vacuum breaker in it, but the other cap does not seem to be vented.

Has anyone had a problem with a vacuum building up in their DEF tank??

Thanks...
I have just got my truck back from the shop that out it lift in it l. While they were under it they noticed the DEF tank was collaped BIG TIME looked like a prune I took of the cap major vacuum it will not return to normal. It will never have the same capacity. I tested the cap it has absolutely no venting in it. I stated the truck for about 2min already has vacuum. My question is where do I get a new cap send the invoice for a shop to replace the tank? I would suggest anyone using these def cap look under the truck at you def tank all the way around it. One side of mine is really bad. I hope the pump is not effected by this. I have sent a message to BR

I have problems with the def cap too. I tested it, it is not vented like the stock cap. I has my truck in the shop for a lift they noticed my def tank was scribbled up like prune.
Anyone running these should crawl under your truck and look at your def tank at all the sides. I removed the cap it had LOTS OF VACUUM. The tank came back a little but is severely deformed. I put the cap back on started the truck for not even two minutes removed the cap it had vaccum. Yesterday I sent a message to BroncOH Who has not replied yet. These caps should be replaced and I would like to know where I can send the invoice for when I take the truck in to the shop to have the def tank replaced. Right now the capacity will be totally diminished. I am hoping the pump inside is not damaged do to the stress put on it. Here is a pic of the front of the tank you can see to the left in the pic the top of the tank with the hose on it is totally sucked down along with the side sucked in. Other sides of the tank are sucked in tooooo.

I have a 2021 and a few years ago bought the fuel and DEF cap and had the same issue with the DEF cap.

Produced a vacuum and my gauge would not change.

Fortunately I took it off and never went back to it. I did not use it for long.

I have never looked to see if my tank is damaged, I don’t think it is or it is minor as I still have full capacity and that was at least 2 or 3 years ago. I still have that DEF cap but it just sits on a shelf.

Been busy away from the forum transitioning over to FoMoCo.

There's an internal passageway that allows the tank to be at ambient pressure. If any unsintered Nylon blocks this passage, this could allow a buildup of vacuum. This passage can be opened up with a 3/32" drill (depth 29mm from the outside) until you feel the resistance of the drill break through. Normally the passage is obscured through the zip-tie cross hole, which is only used for shipping purposes. Use compressed air to blow anything free.

Check out this post if you’re experiencing suction on the DEF cap.

I had a bit of a suction issue on my cap initially, but haven’t had any since it was looked at.
