HOT! Ford Diesel Locking Fuel and DEF Caps

I don't mean to brag or anything, but I am the luckiest guy! My wife bought me something for the truck! I will also tell you that these fuel / def caps are freakin' awesome. HIGH-QUALITY, @BroncOh ! I wanted to wait to install them when the truck was clean, but it was all clean behind the fuel door! ;)

I used a hand driver to add the cap hanger to the door arm - easy. Well worth it, and I feel so much better to have the truck protected! They are keyed the same too - so that's a bonus!

@BroncHo my DEF won't unlock when I stick the key in I cannot turn it either way to release the cap, any ideas or anybody else who's had the issue before?

I don't know where you're at or what the weather's like there but could something be frozen due to a little water splashing inside the fuel door, maybe binding the little claws up, or not letting the key get fully seated? Maybe a little massage from a heat gun or hair dryer would help thaw it out and loosen it up.

Push down on the cap at the same time (if possible). I’ve not had this issue, but that may work.
 
Have had the caps since release. Currently only 44 where I'm at in missouri. I was up in Illinois in negative 15° weather a couple of few weeks ago. But after gently holding cap and exercising the lock mechanism it released but not as it should have. Dark droplets did come out of the bottom and into my hand.

That was a Class Act response from everyone! All in less than an hour resolution! In under an hour I had a return label to get a new DEF cap! Thank you for being solutionary, what a great community!

Agreed. If you’ve not bought a set - you should. Thankfully, my beautiful wife hooked me up. I’m such a kept man. lol. Not!

@BroncOh is the real deal. If you met him in person you would realize the amount of pride and care that go in to his products. Just awesome.

Question for all the people that have these caps (like me!). Has anyone had issues when draining the fuel/water separator to do a filter change?

In my owners manual, it sez this (on page 387 for the 2021 MY: "For 2018 models and later, skip this step but insure that the fuel filler cap is closed before draining the filter. Failure to close the fill cap results in the siphoning of the entire fuel tank contents when you open the drain screw."

Since the cap (for the diesel and DEF) is vented through an "open hole" (vs. a vacuum breaker), I was wondering if the diesel tank would be siphoned to empty when you attempt to drain the water separator.

When I had my OEM water separator on at the time I never had any issue. The amount of fuel drained was the amount within the OEM plastic housing. If you're concerned with it, just drain one quart, then close the yellow valve.
