I added a few extra layers of heat dissipation because mine was touching the shield. Good 7-8K and roughly 15 regens later its as good as the day i put it on.

Another solution to consider for heat management is to use exhaust wrap.

I suggest getting a 100' roll as I found a 50' roll only got me about 65% of the way from the exhaust tip to the muffler.
Then add a few coats of high temp silicone spray to help protect the wrap and further mitigate heat: Design Engineering DEI Hi-Temp... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MY3ML8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
You'll want some food stainless steel ties to hold it all together and the ones at Advanced Auto are 316 stainless: I’ve shared the following product from Advance Auto Parts:

Use zip ties while you're wrapping to hold it all in place, replacing with the stainless ones once finished.

I'm a little late to the part here...I've got a 2020 7.3L. I'm looking at picking up Toyo AT3 37x12.5R17s and probably a 5th Method 305 to rotate 5 tires. Will this fit like many on here have shown? I saw someone ask if the 20-22 and 23+ hitches are different but didn't really see an answer. Also, not sure if my 7.3L exhaust routes differently or not, but I'd plan on getting some of the DEI heat shielding for extra insurance. TIA!

It might not fit because that method rim is likely 8.5-9” wide. Oem rim is 8” and that’s the
to clearing that 37 AT3.
Also I think the 7.3 has a big heat shield under there, not sure but I read it had to be removed or modified even with the Carli hitch.
Wonder if a 37x12.5R18 RT Pro will fit with our airing down some.

The only way to know for sure is to try it.
Judging by the specs, it would not fit being that RT Pro 36.8 vs AT3 36.5.
Yeah if the AT are that close the 0.30 would extra diameter of the pro’s is going to be a problem.
ahh, maybe I just use a 17" spare then. That might help. If I get 37s, I will just play with one of the Methods and see if I can mount it. Thank you! Was thinking to give the RT Pro a try, but with 0.30 making up almost a quarter of the tread depth I'd have to wear off (5x1/32 out of 19.9 32nds tread depth), I'll have to find something else.
CJC Offroad made a 4" exhaust with Banks that is designed to clear better.
Mounted my spare 37" Toyo AT3 with no real issue. I lowered the psi to 25lbs and a few little kicks as I was raising the carrier. Viola! seems to be pulled up to the 4 plastic pads. I was expecting a fight and it was very simple.
I was unable to do this with the Wildpeak and 5 PSI. I also didn’t like when I forced it, it was pushing on the exhaust heat shield. Heat cycling one part of the tire via exhaust heat doesn’t seem like a sound idea for the longevity of the tire.
So what do you use as your spare?

Heat shielding has been discussed extensively earlier in the thread. When properly shielded, it’s not an issue to worry about, at all. I’ve been running with such setup for almost two years with zero issues.
This will help me decide on a 5th tire or stick with the OEM spare.
On a topic tangentially related to heat shielding, is anyone on here running the Banks/CJC Trophy exhaust with a 37" AT under their stock hitch? If so, how is the clearance? That exhaust is on my mod list, probably before my tires are needing to be replaced, but if it wont leave enough room I'll probably skip it and just fab a heatshield like others in this thread have done.
If I compare pics on the CJC website showing trucks with that exhaust vs. some of their other pics of trucks running a stock exhaust, it does look to gain a little more clearance at least on trucks also running a Trophy hitch, would be cool if someone has some real world experience though.
Edit pics: seems like it creates a fair amount more room vs. the OEM exhaust at the closest point to the tire (hard to tell from the angles though)

I imagine you can do the Toyo for your spare if you have a non Toyo 37" tire, since it will be relatively close to other 37" tires, and fits in the spare location? But ideally would still want to put it on the front without 4wd on.
