23+ Front Axle change too?

Any more info on the rear axle recall? Still new to these MYs. I do remember seeing a recall about the rear axle in my research but if you could help with any relevant info it would be appreciated.
Look up Ford Recall 21S31. Here's more details on what it is all about. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2021/RCMN-21V534-6576.pdf

There's a guy on YouTube (Rain City Wrench) who also takes you through the repair procedure. He did mine too!

Thank you for posting that up! Huge help! Looks like i might be screwed as mine is a 250. Even if I have the same M275 rear axle. Go figure

There's a specific date range for the thin walled axles. It's in the recall document. Some of the axles were indeed installed on F250s, but according to Ford, the F350 Diesel Engined Variant is the only vehicle subject to damage because the weight rating is higher than the 250.

There's a sticker on the axle tube (I think) which includes the date of manufacture...

Was browsing another popular Ford forum and came across a post where a bunch of 23+ users are saying their front axles are no longer the Dana M256 (Super 60) that was offered in the 17-22’ trucks. The M256 axle has 10 diff cover bolts while the new axles seem to have 14 diff cover bolts now…the new axle is also physically smaller, the pinion is smaller, etc. The folks on that forum are theorizing it’s a new Dana M235 front axle (basically a Dana 50 pumpkin). If so that is a definite downgrade in strength over the previous M256 axle.

If you folks with 23/24 Tremors could look underneath your trucks and count your diff cover bolts we can see if Ford did in fact keep the M256 in the Tremor Super Duty’s or if they downsized to the M235 as well. Ford also took away one of the locking hubs on non-Tremor F250/350s. The passenger side hub is now always engaged and the spider gears constantly spin. Seems like quite a bit of quiet cost cutting going on…
Regarding the passenger side hub, does it even look like a hub or is it just a blank off cap.

Even if it is always "locked" it would seem that there would need to be something in the axle to lock the two sides together once the ring gear comes up to speed...I recall that Dodge and Toyota (in the '90's) had a "center axle disconnect" that would lock the two halves of the "long side" axle shaft together when needed...

I should have stopped by Bickford when I was driving by this morning. They have a S-Ton of trucks on the lot...

Ill have to check the axle. The door sticker indicates 03/21 which puts in right in the hesrt of the recall period. As you mentioned my slightly lower gvwr and not being a 350 disqualify it from repair.. the way she goes

Thought it was 24. Can’t find the post. It’s somewhere.

It would be the first I've heard of a 24 non Tremor having selectable hubs on both sides, but that’s not saying much. I'm also not aware of any 2023's with the fixed dial, even though the owners manual wording indicated that some might have only one selectable dial. One thing is for sure, this new axle is unrelated to having one vs two selectable hubs.

The hub on the drivers side still disconnects the two wheels from each other in Ford's new system. The new Ford front axle does not have a CAD system.
The Dodge axle in the photo below is a CAD Dana 60. The collar on the long side tube inboard of the spring mount is the housing for the CAD slider and motor mount.

Can someone with a MY23 or 24 F-350 6.7 (12000 lb GVWR) tell us what front GAWR is shown on the door jam sticker?

2024 F350 Lariat Ult Tremor w/ HO 6.7

Front GAWR 5600lb
Rear GAWR 7050lb
GVWR 12,000lb

Have confirmed with pics earlier in the thread that I also have the new 14-bolt front axle and seem to have the Sterling 10.6 rear

Also, FWIW, have dual selectable hubs (but it is a Tremor)

2024 F350 Lariat Tremor w/ 7.3 gas Built 12/2023

Front GAWR 4800lb
Rear GAWR 7050lb
GVWR 11,499lb

Have confirmed with pics earlier in the thread that I also have the new 14-bolt front axle and seem to have the Sterling 10.6 rear

Seems like they are standardizing on those axles for ‘24 for all Tremors, since my HO built 11/23 has the same ones
