23+ Front Axle change too?

How did you determine that? All the 23+ I have seen have the 14 bolt cover on them. Does yours have 10 bolts?

I listened to my brother He was rolling around under it and yelled out “Dana 60! FNA! I crawled under this evening, you’re right, 14 bolt cover. Both hubs are selectable.

Don't know. It's having some work done. When I get it back in a couple of weeks I'll check.

We have 2 F250 Tremors here at work, 1 is a 23 Lariat and the other is 24 King Ranch and both have the 14 bolt and selectable hubs .

So some have speculated that the 14 bolt front differential is a downgrade from the 10 bolt M256 (Super 60) of the previous generations. They have speculated that it is something like a Dana 50. A Dana 50 has 10 cover bolts like the 60, so why would we think that 14 bolts indicates a smaller ring gear. I have not excepted yet in my head that Ford would downsize the front differetial when the GVWRs are going up not down. If this is the case I smell front axle upgrades becoming a thing.

Do we know any real facts about this differential other than it has 14 cover bolts? Has anyone seen actual measurements of the outside of the housing and compared it to a Dans 60/M256 of Dana 50/M235? Or is it just all internet speculation? The eSourceBook shown above says clearly that the MY23 trucks get M275. Do we reason to think that this is not just new cover bolt pattern on a M256?

I saw a snippet in a 23’ owners manual that said the new front axle is a 9.25” front axle. The ring gear is indeed smaller than the 17-22 trucks. As far as why Ford is doing it, no one knows except the engineers and/or bean counters.

As of now, it seems that the 10.08 might only be 450 and up. I haven't been able to look under a 23/24 450 pickup yet. I have not seen a 250/350 with an axle different than the 14 bolt (assumed to be 9.25") one being talked about here. In other words, if the axle being discussed here is not the 9.25" then what configuration of SD does have it.

Edit, I did find a 2023 450 pickup front axle. Looks to be a 10 bolt still, as suspected.

As said in another post, pretty sure the only trucks still getting the 10.08” axle are F450s now.

I think the only solution to this is for Currie or Crane to make a set of Dana 80 Portals and someone starts a group buy for all the 2023+ F350 guys.

It should increase ground clearance a little, although might have lost some clearance out back with the new rear axle.

^^ in all reality, the Tremor has the biggest motors for Trucks that Ford makes with a 7.3g and the HO. Some Ford Engineer had to perform a full torque analysis on the drive train and the structures team had to the analysis on the Mono Beam (bending). I bet it will be fine.

Maybe the new smaller Front diff is full of chrome molly axles to get the power to the ground ?
