2023 MY Super Duty Order/Schedule/Build dates from Ford...

Did some more investigating this morning and sadly I think you’re right. Found this in the order guide (thanks for the tip):

Power-Deployable Running Boards (Not available with Lariat Interior Trims 6J or 6B, SuperCab, or Sport Appearance Package (17K) (unless 17K is ordered with Tremor Off-Road Pkg (17Y))

Not sure why Ford does this. Lariat Ultimate costs $5,075 with or without the power running boards.

I have a call in to the dealer to confirm but it’s not looking promising that I’ll get what I wanted.

I could be wrong but I “think” it’s because the power running boards have a chrome strip on them and the truck deletes chrome on the BAP and SAP.

Just to confirm, you found this in the 2023 order guide, not 2022 order guide? With Ford charging more for Ultimate package this year my assumption was they simply started including power boards as part of the package. I guess not.

Thats what it says on the website. I saw that too. But OP and others said that it might not come without a Tremor package. That is exactly why i asked which year guide they were looking at.

Yes they come with the Ultimate Package on the Lariat. When you select other options those options remove and replace them with something else.

On an Lariat Ultimate Tremor the Ultimate Package adds them in, the Tremor Package removes them, and then it's a no cost switch that has to be made to add them back. What was previously noted was that the last step is not an option on a Lariat Ultimate non-Tremor Sport.

I spent considerable time pondering what to do on my order. I ended up keeping the Tremor boards for simplicity.

But OP did not order a tremor, just ultimate lariat with SAP and his dealer can’t seem to add power boards to his order. That’s the issue at hand here.

I called my dealer yesterday because I figured for sure they would include the power running boards on Sport, he couldn’t add the power running boards back onto it with the SAP and ultimate package. I ended up taking the sport off to keep the power running boards.

Latest from Ford Authority is that they've received over 245K orders for MY23 by the end of 2022 ... I've read that the Kentucky truck plant can churn out 380K per year, but if this expected to be a short year for Ford to get back on track with the timing for MY24, it makes me wonder how long the order banks will remain open. A 9 month run would mean 285K trucks. Considering that they're still working on finishing MY22s, could mean a lower number for MY23.

I recall reading somewhere that the Kentucky plant handles the 250s and 350s while the Ohio plant handles the 450s - 750s in addition to the e-series vans. It only has 1,700 employees compared to the nearly 9,000 in Kentucky so can't imagine they'll add much to the 250 / 350 numbers if they also make those there, but any additional production capacity means an increased chance I'll get my truck so I'll be happy to be wrong on this

To further support this point. Kentucky built 293,065 Super Duty's in calendar year 2022. With a short model year and expected continued commodity constraints (look at the Bronco news and Ford trying to get people to walk away or downgrade orders) I can't see Ford filling all their 2023 orders.

only reason I know this is because it was the same way for the 2022, if you wanted power boards with BAP or sport you had to order tremor.

Yep. You have to order Tremor, but if you want the bench seat, you can neither have the power boards nor the Ultimate package unfortunately.

After reading a few of the threads on 6.7 vs 7.3, I decided to switch to the 7.3... rationale in making the change is wanting to use the truck as a daily driver (short trips), will tow or doing a lot of long distance driving infrequently, diesel staying $1+ more per gallon and the added cost of the 6.7 won't pay for itself quickly enough through added mpg, prefer the lighter front end with the 7.3 for off-roading, and the easier/less expensive maintenance that comes with the 7.3.

In making the change, I wanted to keep the dual alternators and dual batteries. The dealer said they didn't see an option to add these. Did anyone with the 7.3 add this to their build? How does it show up on your order sheet?

I also asked about J2 options. My dealer thinks they'll be able to add them to orders in the next 2 - 3 weeks.

When I built mine. The dual battery was included with the platinum.

I believe it based on trim... If the trim has the new pro-power in the back, it has to have the dual alternator and batteries. I don't remember if pro-power is trim based though.
