Hi All,

Has anyone ordered the tri-fold hard cover from the factory with their build? Wondering how it holds up. I'm not that picky but would like it to be fairly leak free from rain, etc. My main use case is keeping travel bags, etc. protected from the elements during road trips. Wondering if this will do the job or if I need to change my order and get something aftermarket.

I have one on my tundra. The downside of the tri-fold is you lose 1/3 of your bed if your hauling material higher than the cover. Unless you get one where the third panel flips up.

Hi Tony,

Is it water sealed enough to say, put our travel bags in the flatbed for a long weekend trip and protect them if it rains during our drive?

So far, the rain hasn't been a problem. It only gets a little water in when I run it through the car wash.

I have had the RetraxOne MX a couple months now and like it. It is smooth and seals the bed securely. $1222 total!

I’m getting the retrax next week. With 2 months experience with it, would you think a tailgate seal for dust is worth it?

Never needed it on mine. Had mine on my F150 for a couple years.

I don’t have any added seal. If you drive a lot on dirt roads then I might get one, otherwise I don’t think it is required

Another thought, the gap between the tailgate and bed is one I like to have filled. Liked my bedrug for this purpose. Looking to add either the bedrug mat or the bedrug impact mat to fill the gap.

Very happy with the BakFlip. Easy to install, keeps the water out and is "locked" when the tailgate is secured. It's one of the first mods I did.

I’ve had 6 or 7 BakFlip MX4s personally and I wouldn’t run any other cover. I’ve tried others including the BAK X4 and it leaked everywhere.

Just had a Truxedo Sentry CT delivered ahead of the truck In a few weeks. Unboxed it and I love the look and feel of the fabric they use. It more like the fabric of a convertibles roof rather than vinyl. It's a nice matt black and should stay cleaner longer....

@NEO Garage helped me out as well. i’m just waiting for my confirmation date to ship before I process the order. Still is estimated delivery in 12 days but I want to make sure I’m not sitting on the tonneau cover for weeks in case it changes.

It does stay much cleaner than the standard vinyl. Wasn’t to sure that it would shed dust as well as it does due to the texture of the fabric but stays very clean between washes.

I went with the Bakflip MX4. after having roll up covers previously, I really like this one. It was super easy to install as well. I haven’t had any rain yet, but it appears to seal well.

Not exactly sure, would depend on the design. There is just under 10" of clearance to the bottom of the canister.

It looks like they moved away from the adhesive backed strips and to interlocking plastic slat covers. That was my biggest hang-up.

I like their locking mechanism better than the Sentry CT, and I do not want Velcro/Hook and Loop on the sides.

Hopefully it's improved, I had the original on my last truck and it fell apart. Bak did nothing to replace it.

I've had zero issues with Truxedo and Retrax so Bak is at the bottom of my list for a replacement.

Looks like they went to thumb screws for easier removal as well. Also looks like they may have done some things to help the seal adhesion by adding the end caps. That was a big complaint I saw when researching the revolver X4.

I was also not fond of the Velcro either but is livable now that I have it. Ultimately having to use a wrench to remove the old X4 and quality complaints on the older Backs steered me to the Centry. It would have been a harder decision if the X4S was out when I bought my cover. There is enough improvements over prior models where I would have given it a shot over my Century.
