How much of the bed does the "box" by the back window take up from the bed? It looks like you lose about 8-12" at least in the bed? They look super nice otherwise.

I have the retractable one from the factory which I'm 99% sure is a retrax since it appears to be exactly this

Went with the BAK revolver, just installed tonight and it is still cold so need a sunny day for it to lay right and get a good picture. So far seems to be pretty legit , after seeing how thick the roll up is I am not thinking I want a small truck box to set in below for storage... takes up almost 6”-8” from cab into the bed.

I'll have to measure, but you probably lose a square ~12" of space in the upper front part of the bed.

Thanks, that helps, appreciate it. That is my biggest concern on the retractable covers, is losing a good amount of bed space.

Thinking about going this route. Do you have a measurement on how much bed space it takes up when retracted? Pictures are also greatly appreciated!

truck is in the shop getting paint correction and ceramic coating but I'll check on this when I get it back in a few days.

I'd guess you lose maybe 10 inches of the bed, but there's space underneath the storage box so if your load was lumber or something that would fit under it you wouldn't lose any space.

I have a hankering for a RSI Smart Cap so my torneau may end up in the for sale section.

yeah I was gonna estimate like 10 inches, but it could be a foot.

Right on, I appreciate you. Is it reasonably easy to take off and reinstall? I will most likely do ceramic coating when I get my truck as well. Asking for even more pictures now haha.

Looks like you lose 13.5” of depth. From the bed floor to bottom of the canister is 10”.

no idea about taking off....probably just a handful of bolts but it appears to be quite heavy since it's all metal....aluminum but still.

Prob not something to pop on and off every weekend.

It wouldn't take any more than 5 minutes to remove...loosen 4 bolts and another person to help you lift it off and to storage. Re-installing is more involved as you need to square up the tracks. But like jhblaze1 said, definitely not something you're doing on the regular.

Is there not a release pin to remove the unit while the bed rails stay in place?

Extang Xceed. Low profile, can open and close tailgate without touching cover, and its a pressed sheet of vinyl on the hard cover for a seamless look. Would buy another if I needed one...

I have had the RetraxOne MX a couple months now and like it. It is smooth and seals the bed securely. $1222 total!

I do not believe so on the Ford branded Retrax. I helped my buddy remove a retrax from his F150 to go to a toper and the canaster was attached to the rails with screws. The whole thing came out in 1 piece then the rails could then be removed after that. Was a super nice cover but not something that I thought was quick to remove and re-install. There is also a Ford brande roll up that doesn’t have the canister. That one appears to be a rebranded Rollbak cover. I toyed with getting that one since could reduce the cost with my Ford Pass points but is not as quick to remove since there are 4 bolts holding it on to the rails with no thumb screws unlike the cousin Bak flip.
