Nice! What is the gap like between seal and tailgate? Is it enough to let water run in, or close to the before mod gap? Thanks for the pics and video!

@Pizzaguy It is not bad at all. I'd say you'd have to point a pressure washer directly at it to induce bulk water intrusion. I'd say over time and in the sun it will flatten out more, since my cover is still new.

The added convenience is huge.

Truxedo Pro X15. I have some posts and pics earlier on it. I love it. So far holding up great in the snow too.

Update- The Pro X15 does just fine in the heavy snow.

@WJK1, when it's not snowing, are you able to open and close the tailgate without having to fuss with the cover? My wife just got a Ranger, and she wants a cover, but the one I was looking at for her required you to open the cover before closing the tailgate.

I can’t speak for the Truxedo, but the BAK Revolver will allow you to close the tailgate on a shut cover.

@WJK1, when it's not snowing, are you able to open and close the tailgate without having to fuss with the cover? My wife just got a Ranger, and she wants a cover, but the one I was looking at for her required you to open the cover before closing the tailgate.

You can shut the tailgate without doing anything to the cover however the rubber weatherstrip on the back of the cover will tuck inside the tailgate vs. lay on top of it. (Won’t seal out water as well) I usually pop the latch on the cover, close the tailgate then latch the cover again. Someone earlier in this thread had a mod for flipping the weatherstripping over and it would lay on top of the tailgate without having to unlatch the cover. I haven’t done that. Hasn’t been too inconvenient with the extra steps involving the cover. I am not in and out of the back too often thou. Maybe once or twice a week on average. If it was a few times a day, might get a bit annoying.

I have a BakFlip MX4 on my F350 and my '18 F150. I have had a BakFlip on four different trucks so I must like them. My only complaint is that on an 8ft bed it will block the backup camera when in the full upright position. Okay I have another complain. Their build quality is "okay", there is always something to fix when you install it. That said, I had one for 10 years on my F150 and it just kept working. I have a 2022 on order and will put the same MX4 on that too, alway with a BedRug.

I read this entire thread and still unsure what I want. I've had a Retrax Pro XR, soft roll up, and a soft tri-fold in the past. The issue with the Retrax is that it's a pain to fully remove solo if I have to load the bed with something like a garden tractor or motorcycle. Soft covers don't offer theft protection. I'm leaning towards a rigid roll up BAK Revolver X4, a Lomax, or BAK MX4 tri-fold.

-Need to be able to use the full bed- those all let me do that. With the MX4 and Lomax- I can use the full bed without having to take off the cover- although it blocks the rear window. Good for a short notice, "gotta move this" type of job. I think the Revolver will let me do the same and keep my rear visibility.

-Diamond back is really cool, but I can't toss in the mountain bikes with the wheels hanging over the tailgate with it. The bikes actually cleared the retrax in the F150 5.5' bed.

-I like to be able to have the cover partially closed- good for hardware store runs with some lumber sticking out the back.

-I haven't solved tool storage issue either- I'd like to have my tool satchels, recovery gear, air compressor, etc in a tool bin. That was a big plus for the diamondback with the cross bed storage. I don't think any of my options above let you open the front only to get into a bed mounted box or bin. Maybe a side box in the bed over the fender well?

Check out the Truxedo Sentry CT too... it's a hard roller like the Revolver and I have been very happy with it thus far. It's a very easy one person job to completely remove the rolled up cover if necessary without tools.

if you must have full use, i like the roll ups. had trifold, which can be ok depending on what you put in bed, but it's heavy to fold up and blocks window. my last cover was sentry ct, that was awesome. laid flat, rolled up easy, and was miminal without blocking window. allowed more use of front the trifold. it's either open or shut, but for me that never mattered. currently i have the roll n lock, which i like as well but does have a canister. it's the smallest of all of em, but it does take up good amount of room.

I have the Ford version of the backflip - the one you can buy with the truck as an accessory.

1) It is a solid panel cover that latches when closed - then shutting the tailgate secures it a bit more - but it's not Fort Knox.
2) It was left slightly loose on the cab side which allows it to slide back and forth with some effort - but I believe that's also helpful for if someone shuts the tailgate with the cover down.
3) I have had VERY little water intrusion during hard rain. Typically it will be by the tailgate if any.
4) Having to open the cover to close the tailgate sucks. I wish I didn't have to do that - my father-in-law just got the backflip and does not need to do that - he has a lip that goes over his - but he has a Chevy. I almost want to just upgrade to match his. It's just an extra step and a pain in the ass if your hands are full.
5) It's fine after having 2' of heavy snow on it.
6) It will dent. Mine is not dented on the outside, but seems like something has dented it slightly on the inside.
7) If it's not even when opening and rolling forward it can become an issue when closing - I just pull the whole cover and slide it back towards me without issue.
8) It's covered by Ford Warranty.
9)Yes it WILL cover the rear window when opened all the way - but I use my side mirrors. The bed camera still is high enough to show you the bed. I watched a motorcycle in the back like this for about 2 hours during a transport.

That's a good point to mention and true with the Sentry as well. Some have flipped the seal around so you can close the tailgate without opening the cover but I haven't done that yet.

I saw that - similar to what @BroncoHooves has done. May need to think about that during the warmer months.

Since our rolls up real quick, I haven't minded this as much as I thought I would. But, yes, it has to be listed on the con side for sure. Other than that, the Truxedo Sentry CT has been absolutely perfect for me. Rolls up so easily, secures easily, and has been so easy to go back and forth when I've needed the whole bed space. Very happy I didn't go with the hard retractable kinds, and waste bed space withe the drums required

I flipped the tailgate seal on mine. Takes 2 minutes! No cons anymore.
