Velcro is holding up great for me! Mine is 3 years old now.

As far as leaks, the cover isn’t liquid tight but the vast majority of bulk water is kept out.

I know most aren't completely leak proof, but as long as the water is minimal I would be fine with that when traveling. I do like that no bed space is sacrificed compared to a retractable...

Velcro is holding up good. Only time I see some water in the box is when I accidently power wash some into it. I’m happy I got it, and was able to get it for a decent deal, so the added price didn’t hurt as much.

If I was being nitpicky, I have a few complaints…

1/ So many aluminum shavings when I unpacked it. Make sure you can blow it off with an air gun or something.
2/ My rails slightly longer on the passenger side than the drivers. The plastic end piece was not seated as much on one side. As a result, my cover is ever so slightly cock-eyed. Plan on fixing it further when it warms up again, but after a few hours of fighting with it, I settled on slightly angled versus a bit more water intrusion due to having to offset the rails.

3/ And the only one that’s really an “issue” is that I wish the release was a bit more robust than just a cable you tug on. For the cost of these things, surely they could have tossed on a glow-in-the-dark grab handle or something so you’re not flailing around to locate the thin cable.

Definitely would buy it again, and recommend it, but it is a costly. And for that cost, I kinda would have hoped some things had a bit more refinement.

Mine has held up really well and does reasonably good at keeping water out. Get very minimal water intrusion by the corners of the tailgate. Have had it on for around 4.5 years now.

I have had the Sentry since shortly after getting my truck in Nov 2020. It is holding up well. Velcro is still holding strong, some separation of the top from the slats, but it's outside full time and gets the heat in the summer. There is one small crack in the top at a hinge spot, but just cosmetic. As far as water, I get very little, usually from the corners.

Agree with the others as far as Velcro and water ingestion. I'll add that in regularly take mine through the carwash (I know, heaven forbid, gasp!). The only water I get is a minimal amount down the tailgate. Not alot though.

I had this too. It was annoying and more chips made themselves known after rolling and deploying over the course of a few days.

I had the Bakflip MX4 on my last truck and was looking at those and have not seen one on a truck in person. How much room does the canister where it rolls up into take? I had to take my bakflip off on multiple occasions hauling things, just wondering about the rollups.

It’s a big canister. It occupies about 12” length and depth, leaving 10” or so underneath that still can utilize the full length of the bed.

I have had one for about 8 months. Works great for my needs, and it’s quite convenient to retract the cover in a few seconds when I need access.

Sometimes I wonder if I would have been better off putting the $2500 towards a Smartcap, though.

I did like the bakflip but like the thought of retracting to where you want to retract a cover too is appealing. I've not looked at the Smartcap but might take a look at that. I guess they all have pro's/con's and it's more of a preference. Ideally I'd like one that I can still have my racks for the kayaks.

You’d be able to put racks on top of the Smartcap but then there’s the process of getting them up there and off again.

And yes, it’s great to be able to open or close the retrax partially. I have used it to stabilize different taller items in the bed. Keep in mind that when you close the latch at any intermediate position it’s just a pointed set screw digging into the track. Only at the fully extended (closed) position does it latch up. You can adjust the tension and I’ve never had any issues, but it’s not like it’s completely locked when half open.

I don't believe that you did, honestly. That said, every Truck Hero brand cover out there has it. From Retrax to Bak, they all tend to have the metal shavings unfortunately.

I run the MX4 most of the time on shorter bed trucks, like the Raptor with the 5.5' bed. On my F-250, I run a RetraxPRO MX. The canister does take up some spacer, but it's very rare that I can't lose that little bit of space. If I had the collapsible bed extenders, then it would never be an issue. Sentry CT here. Had it for over 3 years as well. Velcro is great, I only get a small amount of water at the tailgate, but usually only when I’ve pressure washed the truck. I’ve never noticed water intrusion from a rain storm. I love this cover and highly recommend.

I figured... I remember thinking about it but probably never got past the "I should mention this..." stage.

It wasn't that big of deal. Easy to blow off and didn't cause any other issues that I could see.

For now it works and I have other things I’d rather spend money on but when time comes if I don’t go Diamondback I’d do Sentry CT again. I loved it, very little water issue in 2.5yrs I had it. Low profile. Easy to use. Allowed access to 99% of bed.
