Tell me about your favorite whiskey or bourbon

Wouldn't go to LA if it were free! Plus lots of desert between here and there so most likely wouldn't make it anyway!!
That's ok... If I ever find myself fortunate enough to get a bottle, I'll pour you a glass and we can enjoy it together. Good whiskey is meant to be shared with family and friends.

Now for a great beer with a good story, and to support 😀 my people, I will go to no end!

Now tell me if there is anything more special than a cold non woke beer on a 100 degree day. Love whiskey.......but love beer and beef ribs!!!!!

So walked into a liquor store that is next door to a doggy daycare we used to take our dogs to (when we lived in that neighborhood). They have ALL (and I really mean all) the allocated and hard to find whiskies. Want Eagle Double Rare (and have $15K burning a hole in your pocket)? They got it. Pappy's? Heaven Hill 18? Blanton's? Stagg? Weller? Rock Hill Farms? Elmer? They had it all. Could have wiped out my entire wishlist at once.

The store has everything market priced (so way above MSRP), but the guys there seem to really know whiskey and the market. Since they want to make sales, and not have a museum, I was happy to hear that they'd be willing to flex on price (especially if buying more than one bottle) and sell things for a bit below market.

I got the CFO to support me buying a few ones I've been looking for. Basically bought 2 bottles and got the 3rd one free with the discounts they gave. So all above MSRP, but below the secondary pricing by enough to make it a fair deal. After today, I'm going to take a break from adding to the collection for a few months. Need to save money for truck mods 😂

10 year wedding anniversary is next year... Which one should I save for that occasion?

If you like a full proof then the Stagg is definitely the way to go. If you like something a touch more mellow on the ethanol, the Michter’s 10 would then be my suggestion.

Thanks for the tip. That's a tough call as I've never tried either of them and I enjoy pours both lower and higher proof. I might see if I can try them at a local whiskey bar if I can find reasonably priced pours. I'm avoiding opening my own bottles until I'm ready to drink them as I'm looking into insurance and have found open bottles can't be insured (and effectively have zero value).

Yes. The 10 and 12 year are completely different from the rest of the standard line.
Had a chance to try the 10 year Jack Daniels this past weekend. It has completely changed my perspective on Jack. So much so that we're now planning to stop and do a tour at the distillery when we're in the area 4th of July weekend.

Gentlemen Jack was one of the few whiskies that I've actually poured most of a bottle down the drain. Old No. 7 just never didn't it for me. This 10 year... This i can drink daily and be happy. Can't wait to try the 12 year.

Glad you like it! I’ll tell you though, it won’t be your daily, because good luck finding it!

I've not had the 10yr but i do have a bottle of Sinatra Select. Its good but, admittedly, its overpriced for what it is/how its made.

btw, do the Angels Share tour, not the other one. The other (when i went) has you sampling their flavored stuff (n)

i just looked up a bottle of 10yr. Finding it (???) is the reason it wont be your daily?

yall fellas are in a tax bracket well north of mine.

Hahaha idk at Retail it’s not bad, I scored 3 bottles of the 10 and 3 of the 12 this year. Gave one of each away as a gift. Have one of each open and of course have to have spares. Secondary is crazy however. Lol

They just had a third release of these older blends. I think the scramble to get bottles was definitely over the first release making that nearly impossible to find if you didn't get one early. The second was easier, but still difficult to get. With the latest I expect it will help soften demand and reduce inflation. I'm curious how many older barrels Jack had sitting in rickhouses. They are such a high volume producers they could be sitting on a mountain of inventory and just now getting it out to the market.

They had released a 14 year label and will be interesting to see if or when it comes to market how difficult it will be to obtain (and how expensive).

That said, just make friends with people who spend stupid money on whiskey and help them drink their bottles. My friends and employees benefit from my hobby. The money spent on a bottle is nothing compared to the memories made enjoying a dram with the important people in my life.

Some of you may laugh because of the name, but this is some really tasty stuff. Definitely worth a try if you run across it.

Picked up a slam dunk yesterday! I know it’s nothing special but my wife has been after one from the time she first heard about them lol. We actually went to MM together and dipped our own but the pot they let you dip in is super shallow so you can’t, maybe 2” at most. Anyway I thought it was fun.
