Wandering through Costco today and they had a few bottle of Blood Oath Pact 12. Needless to say, one made it home.

Did you see Seelbach's dropped a 21 year ALW for $200? They have two barrels, one for their Pro members and the other for everyone. I decided to just pick up the Pro bottle as it isn't in the budget to get two $200 bottles.
Are these still available?

The Pro is member only, but looks like they still have some Batch 001 available.

It looks like the Pro bottle is still available as well.

Seelbach’s Private Reserve 21-Year 145.4 Proof "PRO Batch" American Light Whiskey

The nose is surprisingly full of fruit for such an old, corn-forward whiskey. Angel food cake with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream, a dusting of espresso powder, candied lemon peel and a pinch of sea salt.

The palate is lively and buttery, again with a bit more mixed fruit focus than one would expect before layers of sweet oak and creme brulee come in.

The proof hugs as it moves into the finish, but still not lighting up the palate as much as you’d expect for 145 proof! Freshly cracked black pepper, turbinado sugar, blackberry compote, 65% dark milk chocolate and buttercream frosting walk you into a buttery, mouth wetting sweet oak linger.

Seelbach’s Private Reserve 21-Year HAZMAT American Light Whiskey Batch 001

Dried pineapple, green apple, and maraschino cherry begin the nose bright and crisp as it moves into rich caramel syrup, cigar box, and sweet oak.

The palate is syrupy yet effervescent, giving rich cola and cane sugar notes before flecks of black raspberry chip ice cream and toffee.

The finish masks much of the proof as white pepper and pineapple soft serve ice cream linger semi-buttery on the palate before a slightly tingly continuation of blue raspberry candy and overproof rum.

Is this bottle worth anything? It’s been in my mom cabinet for decades? Cheers 🍻

It depends on the year, particularly if it is bottled before 1987 when Jim Beam acquired National Distillers spirits division. You'd have to see about the tax stamp (red strip of paper) to help get clues on the age of the bottle. It's likely too old for laser codes.

That bottle probably originally sold for $10 - $15 and might fetch as much as $400 in the vintage market.

Any blood oath fans here? Thinking about sending my whole blood oath collection soon as I just moved.

I have been enjoying the Pact 11. Grabbed a bottle of Pact 12, but haven't opened it yet.

I think I have batches 4 - 12.. they're all so different, some we like more than others. I thought about getting batches 1, 2, and 3 but they are just too expensive on the auction sites.

I have pacts 1-11. Use to buy backups of each so I could try them. Just never really loved any of them.

The biggest challenge with the series is that it is almost experimental in nature. The blender is picking different base whiskies and finishing them with the goal that no two releases are alike. There haven't been any of them that I've tried that I disliked, but none are the best either. They're mostly a 5 - 7 on the t8ke scale. The Penelope Estate collection tends to be 7 - 8 for me on the scale.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.
2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.
3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.
4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.
5 | Good | Good, just fine.
6 | Very Good | A cut above.
7 | Great | Well above average
8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.
9 | Incredible | An all time favorite
10 | Perfect | Perfect

I hate it when they ship you half empty bottles. How is it? I haven't had a chance to crack mine yet.
Opened it up when we had some friends over for dinner. They were safe from the fires by 3 blocks. Solid reason to celebrate.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, smooth, even at the proof it is.
