Tell me about your favorite whiskey or bourbon

Have you had the Calumet 15 or 16 yet? I know where there are a few bottles in the wild and just hesitate to pull the trigger.
Left at 9am to go over towards Montana, finally home just after 10pm, but it was a nice day. Wife found some of the moonshine she was looking for from a distillery that went out of business and a few other treats. I didn't do too bad 😁

I haven't yet. They had both, but the profile of the 15 year was more my liking, so I grabbed one. I have a bit that may take me a while to get to. Plan is to enjoy them over the years, especially after retirement.

The Calumet 15 is a great pour. I have enjoyed my bottle. Contemplating picking up another.

Years ago, a friend of mine went to Woodford's distillery and came back and gave me a little flask of the best tasting bourbon I've ever had. I tried buy more, they would not ship it and said it's only offered there. I'm not really a huge whiskey or bourbon drinker, I prefer sweeter stuff like cask-aged rum and can only drink whiskey or bourbon over ice usually.
Mrs Ragin Cajun (she's actually a Shreveport Redneck and me being a coonass makes our kids a bunch of red asses), and I did a whisky tour with a guide/driver. He said always ask if there is something special behind the counter or in the back storage room. I brought home 4 "special" bottles just by asking, including Woodford.

Also check out RD1. Great bourbon. Fantastic tasting room with a couple of barrels where they let you fill a bottle and get a custom label printed.

I've got the Calumet 14, 15 and 16 year... this is making want to crack those bottles and do a tasting. Calumet is distilled by Barton and while a lot of Barton stuff is ok / average, their higher age statement bottles are really a cut above. I have a few 18 year Barton bottles that are fantastic. The 18 years somehow bring this raspberry preserves flavor profile to them.

Although I would not consider most Scotch to be in my flavor profile, I had the opportunity to have a few pours of Macallan 25 last week in Las Vegas and I have to admit that it was a very tasty whisky. Not heavily peated or smoked or whatever typically makes scotch taste like paint thinner to me.

Macallan is always a good pour and the 25 is exceptional.

Finally after 4 years of hunting, completed the rainbow 😁... Got the single barrel for $80 from a friend who owns a liquor store (he had it priced at $200 for anyone else). Probably one of the few bottles a year he gets of it.

Been wanting to try one of the Tin Cup bourbons and was walking through the store yesterday and they had one bottle left of their 14 year and only $68, so I grabbed it.

Had plans to make a shelf, wife asked me in what time? So much family stuff going on over the next few months, she was right. Then, she orders this for me and I can't complain at all. Barrel staves with solid oak for the rest. TR on the top where it belongs. Yes, the TR1 is an empty, but there for the collection.

She's a keeper (I'm sure for many reasons well beyond excellent taste in shelving).

Sorry, Google said they'd probably have it and didn't see it wasn't the special release.

Not sure if anyone was tracking this release. I was lucky enough to acquire one. Not sure what occasion I will find to open it, but it will happen.

Bottle 157 of 250
