Project Black Cherry

Hello. First time post here. Let me just start off by saying this is really killing me. A few days ago I was considering the possibility of a new truck purchase. Looking at the F-250 Tremor with 7.3 and started researching everything. Well, with all these great posts and builds, this sucker may just be out of my price range now. Come on lottery!

Seriously though, very awesome rides on this forum and VERY GOOD info. Thank you for this. Keep on buildin'.

Someday...........

Do the lights get in the way of the front camera?
Yes they do block the camera - so he moved to a Baja Design Onyx 6 - 40" on the bumper, that throws more light, but sits much lower and has very limited impact on the front camera - I did the same on mine after seeing how much the camera was blocked on BlackCherry's truck.

Those are some SEXY rigs....

So begins the B&O Delete. I'm bummed, honestly. I bought a Lariat as I didn't want to touch the truck beyond a few basics and the premium SONY sound in my wife's Expedition is tolerable. Well, the B&O is garbage and i couldn't take it anymore. I ordered:

(Qty. 2) JL AUDIO 99022 – C3-650
(Qty. 2) JL AUDIO 92193 – 10TW3-D8
(Qty. 1) JL AUDIO 98632 – VX1000/5i
(Qty. 1) JL AUDIO 98128 – DRC-205
(Qty. 1) JL AUDIO 90346 – Roll of Power
(Qty. 1) JL AUDIO 90350 – Roll of Ground
(Qty. 1) JL AUDIO 90258 – Fiber Optic Cable
(Qty. 2) JL AUDIO 90364 – Distribution Block
(Qty. 2) JL AUDIO 90461 – Fuse Distribution
(Qty. 1) ZEN Module

I was looking into the stealth boxes and the 13" was a little low on power while the (2) 12" was perfect but wired for 4ohm - i needed 2ohn for the VX1000 to really shine so i ordered the (2) 10s in D8 to accommodate this. My installer said the enclosure would be a piece of cake.

I got everything but the subs so i got the truck to my guy to get started. First step, clean it up and deaden my soda-can doors.

As you can see from the above, he deadened the inside of the door and the outside of the door, then build panels and sealed them to enclose the door and deadened the panels.

Next up, threw the speakers in and added the soundmat foam to the outside to seal the speakers to the door panel ensuring no loss into the door:

Next up: Tweaters.

That's all for now. I am still waiting on the subwoofers and was told they could be "several months" but my buddy had time to get it in and get it started so i wasn't going to waste any time.

Next up, finish wiring and Sub Enclosure.

Pardon my ignorance but I hate the stock B&O system (extremely disappointed in it) and looking to upgrade and waiting for a quote from a very highly recommended audio company

Is the door sound deadening worth the coin?

What is the Zen module for?

I didn't do any before/after sound deadening tests to be able to speak to its efficacy BUT, my installer has installed systems on hundreds of these rigs and swears by it; that was good enough for me. The end result is amazing; this is the nicest sounding system I've ever owned.

The Zen module, from what i understand, utilizes the plug from the factory B&O amp, processes the signal, then sends it to the JL amp by way of a fiber-optic cable to ensure no quality/signal degradation.

Of those 3, Fuel Zephyrs all the way! The other two will likely scrub the Radius Arms at full lock.

That will be TIGHTTTTT. My guess, you'll clear but you may have the slightest rub, if anything. The 12.5" width and lack of side-lugs on the all terrain may be perfect to keep it tucked in. One thing to note, the tighter you go on offset, the closer you're going to be to the "slack" of your Carli Extended Brake Lines. I highly recommend 0 offsets for this reason.

Well this saved me from making a mistake

Found some 18x9 315 Methods we like with 5.75” backspace and 18 offset

Sounds like they will be really close if not rubbing with 12.50 wide tires and 0 offset is the way to go

I've had a half dozen fairly serious sound systems over the years. On the last two I used sound mat(don't remember brand), I would NEVER replace speakers without it now.

I’m spending the kids inheritance at a alarming rate thanks to this forum lol

Going with Focal speakers, JL amp & single 10” subwoofer, Zen a2b unit along with all the assorted pieces parts. Also getting the sound deadening in the doors as well as the rear bulkhead behind the seats

Have a fridge on slider behind the driver seat so no under seat sub box and only 1 sub

So much for wheels and tires to go with the e venture this year lol

Gus - time for you to start a build thread for your truck - post up your mods and photos of what you have done so far and then document your stereo upgrade with photos as it goes in!

Does your rig have some kind of PPF or ceramic coating?
Not to be a smart-ass but you literally quoted the post stating exactly what i put on it, lol. "Single stage paint correction and Adam’s Polishes Graphene Ceramic"

No PPF, just the ceramic.

Oh no shit. I see that now. LOL

Here is a question How is the Adams holding up drive past the denver shop frequently and have never stopped in yet

I did the Adams on this truck and the Chemical Guys on my Ram. Granted, one's a beauty queen and the other is a desert beater, but the Adams is holding up FAR better from a gloss & ease of wash (hydrophobic properties).
