Knife Collections, Knives, EDCs

Not a huge collector here, but a few fun pieces I’ve picked up (in addition to dozens of cheapo folders over the years).

Top to bottom:
EDC: Protech Godson
Hunting: New West Knife Works Forager
Statement Piece: Schenk Knives custom Damascus (don’t know the model, friend gave it to me as a graduation gift when I finished my Masters degree)

Been going back and forth on a speedgoat or mini speedgoat for EDC…any recommendation?
I have a couple Speedgoat's, it's a nice light knife for a fixed EDC. My one recommendation would be to go with the Magnacut version unless you like to sharpen often.

How do you guys like the OTF blades? I'm not sold on the design but haven't tried one. Microtech or Benchmade?

WOW - this is a very dangerous thread for me. I LOVE knives and have way too many for my own good. Mostly folders in my collection and they range from bejeweled safe queens to regular rotation of EDC's. So to me they are all things depending on the knife. From hard use tools to pure fidgety pocket jewelry. As long as it has decent steel and build quality, if I like it I'll carry it. I don't harbor any brand bias or snobbery - I just like what I like.

Here was my green office carry on St. Patrick's day. it was a suit and tie day so I had to travel light. My carry on off days and camping days is quite different!

Love the Osborne 🔪 Close to my all time favorite carry knives.

I’m a Microtech guy.. Have at least a dozen laying around. They have a bunch of quality OTF’s in a variety of styles.. The Ultratech’s are a solid choice, the UTX 85 is a little more compact for carry, UTX 70 is kinda small IMO.. The Trodon and Comabt Trodon are a bit more stout but I don’t use my knives as pry bars 😂 Can’t go wrong with any of those 👍🏼

Below is an Ultratech tanto with carbon fiber scales.

I have both the mini and full size Osbournes - really great form factors both functional and easy to carry. Here is today's carry the 2025 Shot Show Mini Freek limited edition. I am a sucker for Ultem and this one had to make its way into my rotation. I'm not a Benchmade only guy by far but you know how it is with your first love...

I’m more of a rifle/gun guy, and while
I have knives, it’s mostly a few Kershaws for everyday use and a few to dress and process deer.

My oldest graduates HS next year, would love to give him a special knife, probably a buck knife, and something that he can pass down to his son one day.

Recommendations?

If you truly want to give him an heirloom that's top notch, you have to go with William Henry:

I’d go for a Randall.. They are a generational knife, meant to passed down 👍🏼

You need to cut it out right now! If you have any left send one to @thatdood; he'll give you a nickel in return 😉.

Perfect.. That’s exactly what I was hoping to get out of them 😂

Unfortunately, those have all moved on.. I go through phases, get super in to something, hunt them down and buy all I can.. Then get interested in something else, sell previous stuff and buy the new.. Repeat over and over 🤣
