Fuel Pump recalls - 2020-2022 Models

Just a thought - but is it possible the recall is on specific VINs that sat on lots (KY, train depots, dealerships) for extended time. Therefore, a byproduct of COVID is that Ford sold trucks primed for failure?

And by that extension, Ford doesn’t warranty your decision to fill up and not drive.

Never been so happy to see our UPS guy. My S&S Diesel DCR arrived today in perfect shape. S&S does an outstanding job of packing and shipping even using a proprietary security tape sealing the box. Tomorrow my Pusher intake order ships out of Florida. I opted for the Bronze powder coating.

Once warmer temps hit, I am looking forward to a road trip north to Michigan and having Doctor Arod do the all things DCR “transplant”.

Today was a really good day.

Agreed. S&S along with Stanadyne and Purepower really did a fine job with their combined R&D, testing, and just the overall effort in bringing this product to market. With only 35k on the odometer, I plan on keeping my truck long term, I think it’s a worth while purchase.

A wise move for so any reasons.

I have never run oil from the Chinese restaurant, but if I ever need a new pump, I may just ask to do the S&B tank at the same time.

Uses OEM.

Check out 10:40 on this video. New O-ring required. This is a 2023+ video, but there are others for earlier trucks. Seems like a pretty easy install.

I have a 2014 F350 that I bought new. I haven’t had the HPFP fail but I think about it everytime I get in the truck. The truck has been pretty reliable and the only failures I’ve had have been a cold side pipe that cracked last summer and a DEF heater. I installed an FS2500 filter and 60gal fuel tank right after I bought it. I’ve also installed a DPK. A new Tremor is on my list but I keep thinking about how Dodge and Chevy ponied up and did a recall on the HPFP but they haven’t. I also see where Ford has had more recalls than any other manufacturer. I’ve lost allot of respect for them. That’s no way to run a company.

All that article was, was a CYA for Ford. Just has been stated, how does an update correct the issue? I'm all ears!!!

It did have some numbers. It’s estimated 4% of the 295k trucks have the condition.

This is exactly why I bought an extended warranty (8yrs).

Yes, it did. My truck was 3 weeks from manufacture to my driveway, but included in the recall! The paint was barely dry! The reasoning they are discussing dosent apply, to all. That's why I'm calling it cya. I have a DPK and a warranty but in this case if my cp4 fails I'm going to a DCR, warranty will not be used.

Dude at the stealership tried to sell me a 10yr prepaid maintenance plan, even though I live in the bluest state in the union. I told him I don’t trust they’ll even let me register this thing 10 years from now…probably have to go to Nevada to sell it.

IMO, all of this stuff is just a bunch of unverified chatter unless someone can produce some hard evidence that S&S' pump is more robust than Bosch's design. No, manufacturer's testing does not satisfy this, nor does the opinion of whoever on whichever forum.

Where's the data? Where's the true data with a real sample size that DCR is more reliable? Where's the true data on how many CP4 failures are occurring and where's the true data on why those units are failing?

Somebody please point to some real data here or stop flapping about it. I'm not about to go out and spend thousands of dollars on an aftermarket pump when mine will most likely keep working fine. Or am I wrong? I can accept that but prove it.

Wow, that's a lot to digest. May l ask why your even a part of this forum if you don't value and or have the ability to value its content. Trust me if you had done your due diligence on the cp4 vs DCR, it is very clear the design flaws that cp4 has and has been documented by numerous 3rd party sources. Just do some research on your own since you don't seem to trust forum content.
