Thanks for the king words brother!FYI I got my tank from him, great customer service, fast shipping, probably should do the cold side pipe as well![]()
My insurance company didn't "want" to pay. I had to be persistent.I’ve read mixed things with state farm recently about it. Seems to be a crap shoot
You're right.Do the DCR if you think it's worth it. Your cost is going to be a minor addition to labor for the additional work. After the fact it's doing double work.
Good mechanic! Loyal and honest! You're right.
I spoke to my mechanic today and he only adds 2 hours for the pump R/R
I already had the DPK on the shelf and he is willing to perform an exchange for the pump even though he is doing more DCRs now than DPK these days.
Yes many instances. If you join the DCR powerstroke group on Facebook you will see a few instances where the CP4 failed even with a DPK kit. The failure rate is also higher than what you were stating. Those number come directly from Ford and warranty claims. There are numerous independent shops that do DCR or CPX swaps on trucks that had grenaded CP4s that fell outside the warranty window. The failure rate is higher than you think.QUESTION!!!!
Has anyone on this forum experienced a CP4 FAILURE that had a DIASTER PREVENTION KIT installed when the CP4 failed???? Please respond with details, THANK YOU!!
I'm sure it is higher than Ford is reporting. For the data we can see 1% for only 3 model years of trucks is pretty damn low. Now if we go ALL the way back to 2011-current.....that 1% isn't jumping to 10%. If it was a true 5% I'd be surprised.Yes many instances. Now of ALL the reported failures or even people having failure the percentage that was strictly a HPFP failure based upon no owner negligence is going to be VERY low, once again easily under 5% over the life 2011-current. There are people who will not be openly admitting they were the ones that used known bad/suspected bad fuel, or added DEF to the fuel tank.
Thank you for your response! Apparently you aren't as knowledgeable as you are attempting to be. A DPK does not and will NOT prevent a cp4 failure. I never represented it that way. Nor has anyone else I'm aware of. What a DPK does is mitigate the damage to the rest of the fuel system downstream when a cp4 fails. My question was, has anyone on this forum ever experienced a cp4 failure that also had a DPK installed. I'm wanting to know from that person how effective the DPK was! I don't need Facebook for my research, and I didn't get any numbers from Ford. I'm well aware many independent shops R&R cp4's and install DCR'S. No sir, respectively I do not believe the failure rate of cp4 is as you represent. A large percentage of the cp4 failures are user/owner error ( def in fuel, water in fuel, gasoline in the diesel tank, rust in fuel, etc) I'm inclined to think you should broaden your research beyond Facebook.Yes many instances. I know exactly what a DPK is and what it’s designed to do. I was just sharing that I have read about instances where the pump failed with the kit installed. I figured I’d help address your question. Don’t believe me? That’s fine. But there have been scenarios. The Facebook groups offer great information regarding the pumps, tuning and deleting etc. more so than this forum. I don’t understand why you have to be such an ass hole when we are trying to have a discussion.Thank you for your response! Apparently you aren't as knowledgeable as you are attempting to be. My apologies, my tone sometimes is a byproduct of this or any venue in the form of treads or posts. If you go back to your post #108, you wrote "you will see a few instances where a cp4 failed even with a DPK kit" that verbiage led me to believe you were implying the cp4 failed in spite of the DPK. All good! I was just answering your question that there have been cp4 failures with DPK installed. But I don’t know of any instance where the pump failed with a DPK and there was still fuel system failure. The kit should do its job to prevent that. Perhaps there are catastrophic instances where the cam shaft or something else went but that could be other underlying issues. I think we just misunderstood each other. Yep, no argument there. I wish we knew more solid numbers on actual events or how they are reporting those numbers.Ford will do anything to not warranty it. We’ve all seen the reports blaming customers on their negligence when it was anything but.
Yes, that was exactly the case! Also I should note that the S&S DPK is a great product, as is the DCR, both manufactured by S&S. There is another manufacturer of a DPK that is not the quality of the S&S, I will leave that anonymousAll good! I can submit a warranty claim through a dealership. If Ford denies it, do they still track it as a warranty claim or are they tracking ONLY actual events that they covered under warranty.
We could argue that the HPFP warranty period is 100k miles, so that makes their numbers seem to be even smaller. LOTS of unknown data to argue about with no reasonable answers.
Does anyone’s recall mention anything about a replacement? Mine just mentions a software update. Just curious as to why some are mentioning a possible swap out/replacement.
Remedy
Software is not available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide software for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge.
Me either, but I’ve also read it may not be put out until the 13th of January.I have a June 22 truck no recall in the app.
