To me it's a "fear of god" level of failure - and that helps people justify spending coin on the prevention kit. I know it's discussed to exhaustion all over the interwebs, but I think I have only seen a few who have actually had an unplanned failure. I feel like one member here has? Am I remembering that correctly?
No doubt it CAN happen, and when it does, it's painful. You'd almost think there would be a service interval to replace it anyway. So far I have not been able to convince myself to pull the trigger on 2K in parts and then install it - and I likely would have a tech do it because I am not sure I trust my lifetime education of shade tree mechanic.
