Forscan for 2022

Tackled a bunch of changes in Forscan today but had a weird issue come up when I initiated the scan of the truck - the APIM module was not visible. I searched here and elsewhere for a solution and never found anything specifically addressing this but did see a clue about Forscan settings that could have been the issue.

In short, the resolution was to turn connection type to COM in the connection settings on Forscan - everything else set to auto. Hope this helps someone down the road.

@blumhagen Yup. OBDLink EX. I got it off Amazon so could be an older version? At any rate, all is good and all modules are visible.

My take aways:

1. Need to order a obd connector
2. Download forscan software
3. Save a copy of my as built settings
4. Start making changes?

I am not very tech savvy but really could utilize this tool. Would love it. TIA for your advice

I started really basically, and went to YouTube for some video step by step. I found one tutorial that explained the real basics, primarily in plain language adjustments with Forscan. It’s a reasonable place to start to see it laid out for you. Type in Colts Way and Forscan, and the third result or so is his primer. It‘s only a short jump then to making the numerical adjustments needed to make more advanced changes that can’t be accomplished on the plain text side. Just remember to keep a copy of your as built, keep careful notes on all changes you make (when you get to making numerical changes, your record should include the before and after values, cause it makes it easy to revert back if you mess something up). It’s pretty simple when you get the hang of it, everyone here has already done most of the heavy lifting in research, all you need to do is copy their changes for the modifications you want. Post any problems or questions here, got a few really good experts who can offer advice.

Recommend getting a wired version. Many of us have purchased and successfully used the OBDLink EX although there are others too. There have been issues with Bluetooth adapters. Although not common, I would not chance it...

I work in IT and see people play whack-a-mole with changes (they don’t fully understand) trying to solve a problem, and have no idea what all they’ve changed or in what order when they finally decide to start over at square one. “Professionals”…..SMH

I have my As-Built file (from Ford) saved, as well as made and archived backups of every module before I ever made the first change in Forscan.

I use a spreadsheet to document every single change I’ve made, the module, the before/after setting, the date and mileage.

I make and archive on my PC, a backup of the impacted module(s) after each change, saved with date stamp in file name.

Take your time, use caution, understand the changes your making, and have the ability to get back to where you were if needed.

Looking for a little help with a forscan change. 2022 F350 6.7L. I've successfully connected and made a few of the common changes but I cannot figure out how to disable the panic button on the key fob. I've tried both a plain english mod in the BCM and a surgical mod in the as built side of BCM.
I want to completely disable the panic button on the key fob. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you! That is exactly what I tried to modify the first time,but I got an error when I tried to write the change yesterday. Thought I was doing something wrong. I tried it again today and it worked without any issues.

Disabled the double honk and added the temps to the gauge cluster earlier today (22MY). I learned how to calculate the checksum values up front so I don't get the error message - even though it updates automatically. I did some interweb searching but didn't find a clear answer but figured it out... Had to brush up on hexadecimal!

Modman, this is great! Are these settings covered in the spreadsheet in the original post? Also, it looks like you have the 7.3L gas so I'm wondering if anyone has done this with the 6.7L diesel and what the cluster looks like. I realize my question might be answered in this this forum but there are 48 pages and I will likely gloss over it in my review! LOL!

That's weird. Without Nav In Motion, I can change sources but not actually browse music on my hard drive or use the Ford navigation. With it, I get the KIP issue. Either setting had no effect on Android Auto or Car Play.

what is configure my gauges feature found in the IPC module? It's disabled. This is for other later model year vehicles that allow you to select from a list of parameters to display on certain cluster screens. Our Bronco has this and I think the 21 F150 does as well.

Thanks Modman. I don't have Forscan working yet but I will be looking back to these posts for reference. It seems like you are really good at this so I will more than likely reach out if/when I get stuck.
