I run Lucas Oil synthetic oil stabilizerAnybody add something like the Hot Shot's stiction eliminator or friction reducer to their oil?
Not really since the oil can be analyzed scientifically...All subjective…
Driving conditions, weather, duration, towing, will change your scientific analysis. Point being nobody can tell you exactly when to change your oil or what oil you must use. Obviously there are guidelines for the idiots that would use a product that could actually cause harm. Use an approved weight and change it on a regular basis. I would be more concerned about fuel and the cp4 than oil on these trucks. Not really since the oil can be analyzed scientifically...![]()
Isn't that the purpose of the oil use monitor on the truck which is an automated dynamic version of the maintenance interval schedule printed in the owners manual?Driving conditions, weather, duration, towing, will change your scientific analysis. not since my 6.0 days, the only add'v I use is OptiLube XPD fuel to improve lubrication from the fuel side since we are no longer HEUI injection system. The majority of us are using a premium oil or using a UOA for watching wear metals.Anybody add something like the Hot Shot's stiction eliminator or friction reducer to their oil?
Again that is subjectiveIsn't that the purpose of the oil use monitor on the truck which is an automated dynamic version of the maintenance interval schedule printed in the owners manual?
Seems like we'll find out if it's subjective or scientifically dependable since that's the purpose of this thread with the help of science and oil analysis.Again that is subjective
Some people go by that and others will bite your head off and call you an idiot lol
Mine will go around 8k miles before it says to change oil. If you’re running synthetic oil then that’s probably fine. I wouldn’t go 8k on normal 10w30
If you’re the one testing your oil then you can get some good information that will translate. Using other people’s testing can be useful but doesn’t mean you will have the same results. Again your driving habits, geographical location, and use of truck are the driving factors to oil life.Seems like we'll find out if it's subjective or scientifically dependable since that's the purpose of this thread with the help of science and oil analysis.

Just follow the viscosity chart in the owners manual.
Oh shoot! Somehow that didn't register to me. Hopefully just a typo...I'll update you guys. When your diesel oil analysis reports " ..and the gasoline in the oil..."
Are you REALLY going to let that slide by, do you question it, or does it alarm you??
Cause I'd be on the phone ASAP.
Willing to bet that was meant to be fuel in oil but definitely worth a phone call to confirmWhen your diesel oil analysis reports " ..and the gasoline in the oil..."

WrongJust to prove the point about getting OA done. Just cause they give you a cool report doesn't mean it can't have errors.

Agreed. I've been using them for years and they eb and flow. I'm curious what your results are.The lead times at Blackstone have gotten bad. I'm still waiting on my final Rotella T6 5W-40 testing I've been doing for mileage.
