Data and analysis to find the best oil for the 6.7

Fuel % shows a trace, 4.2 TBN says the oil is alive and well. Now that you are seeing T6 with 10k is fine....are you going to stay at that interval? Not an unusual interval at all, just need to make that decision.
More concerning though not shown (you have to pay even extra for the test beyond tbn) is the soot level test, if you are going to do extended OCI beyond 10k I would absolutely rerun this sample with soot values and get a bypass filter. This is the note from mine, and should be part of your test until you know soot loading with the oil. Only a bypass filter will filter low enough to help scrub soot and soot is abrasive. This was an 8k mi sample. I do a lot of city driving that can be great or shit bc Atlanta traffic is bipolar as shit.
Rain = Traffic, Snow = abomination, sunshine = no traffic, misting and fog = 100mph nissans, wind = traffic,

One thing I noticed between all of these samples is the chromium. My first sample had high chromium as well. Blackstone seems to think this is abnormal, but most all 6.7 oil samples I've seen have higher than normal levels.

Makes me wonder if something is actually going on or if it's just an isolated 6.7 thing.

My batch of samples sent to Blackstone with my 21’ 6.7 have never been more than 2 on chromium level, typically I just see 1.

Just got my 2nd sample done. Fuel dilution seems a little high, otherwise I'm pretty happy with the results.

This was with Amsoil 5w40 signature series.

Ok so what does this mean?

Now what do you do since the fuel dilution is higher than you’d like?
How do you remedy the situation?

Fuel dilution in diesels is typically caused by extended idling, lots of short trips and regens.

So it's just a matter of changing driving habits if possible.

Also, I've read that Blackstone's fuel dilution results aren't the most accurate. They are using the flash point to determine fuel %.

My latest Blackstone oil report, below. 7,163 miles on this sample. I took my sample hot, so not sure why they're mentioning 'cold sampling'.

He should have gotten the BAP. 😂

You might mention that in an email reply.

Are you going to try 10k?

I'm still waiting on my last sample results, and already burned through 50% of this oil life so once I'm out of warranty extending oil changes is something I'm looking forward to.

It's nice to see oil prices coming down, but if prices still favor it, I'm thinking I'll use conventional 15w40 again this summer to save some money.

Will do :)

I've already done 10.2K before (see the report, it's there). Not sure if I should try it again though.

The comment about cold sampling has nothing to do with you pulling a hot sample.

@gmbpilot757 : Just give it a try. The worst that can happen is the motor doesn't like it. Think back to the whole "typewriter tick" sound on the 6.7L motors. That was a tell-tale sound to me to use a different oil. Doesn't seem to be as such with these newer 6.7L motors (say 2020+).

"Approved Oil List 07/21/2022"

May just have to Assault-

I’ve had the approved list for a couple months now and have been trying to narrow it down on what I want to give a go. Thanks for insight 🤙

Follow up from Blackstone regarding my question:

I don't know what's really going in your engine. Cold sampling is the biggest offender, but lots of city driving, idling, or short trips can also deposit small amounts of fuel into an engine. If there were a small flaw in the fuel system, injectors would be the first place to look, but 0.5% by volume is truly minimal.
