2023 MY Super Duty Order/Schedule/Build dates from Ford...

Took 90 days, but just got my first update email from Ford... funny that they don't differentiate between job 1 and job 2 orders since mine isn't technically delayed right now:

As promised, we want to update you on the status of your Super Duty F-350 Platinum order. We are still experiencing delays due to the supply chain challenges that Ford and our industry are facing at this time.

Please understand that while getting your vehicle into production is taking longer than usual, we are doing all we can to minimize the delays.

There’s nothing we want more than to deliver your new Super Duty F-350 Platinum. We are fully committed to keeping you updated on your vehicle’s status, and will let you know as more information becomes available. We apologize for any inconvenience, and truly appreciate your patience and understanding.
These are automated emails that do not mean anything. No sense posting them here, everyone gets the same email.

Trim packages of King Ranch or above are going to be "Job 2", which doesn't start scheduling until March/April. You will not see your truck until this Summer, any way you slice it.

I just want my J1 truck by early June.

That's probably not an unreasonable expectation - it appears they are scheduling and building J1 trucks pretty aggressively. The 2023 FB page is blowing up with guys getting their window stickers and scheduled build weeks.

I didnt know getting windoe stickers in advance of the build was a thing. Things that make you go Hmmmm.

Generally a VIN is assigned when you get your production date scheduled, at this point you can no longer make changes to your order.

The window sticker generally becomes available about a week in advance of your "production week". It is a surefire indicator that if your truck isn't already built, it will be very soon.

Have my VIN, no window sticker. That's pretty cool. I can frame it, put it in front of the head so that its easier to evacuate my colon every time I see the MSRP 😆

Correct. At the build date point a good portion of the truck is already built. The build date is the planned date the group of trucks the truck is in starts having the chassis mated to the bodies on the assembly line. That window sticker that was posted looks like it has 77/188 in the upper right margin which means it should be the 77th truck out of 188 with that build date. The higher the first number there the higher the chances the truck gets built the following day or two after the build date. The total on that sticker seems low though. Figure the window sticker comes out a week before the build date as parts start to get put together and the in plant portion of the truck is finished a few days after.

For example, I have a VIN and a build date of February 13. In normal times I could expect to see my window sticker next week, the completion of the truck the following week with the modules showing active later in the week, and them some stagnation in the schedule while it goes out for the bed liner before it gets put on a train late in the month. This assumes no delays.

All the facts on this with links to the modules webpage is here someplace. Good search skills should find it.

Very interesting. Do you happen to have the details, was this a news article?
No family members it supposedly also hit LAP too.

Here is a pic of some setting near the university

I spoke to the gentleman that does the ordering at my dealership yesterday, he was telling me it will likely be Sept or Oct, on average, before we receive Job 2 orders.

I'm seriously considering letting the dealership have my '23, and just ordering a '24 at that point. Especially where Ford has committed to getting their production back on track for 2024, and with a slowing economy, I assume order volume will be down.

I like to always have the "latest and greatest", and receiving a '23 model when 2023 is drawing to a close just doesn't sit right with me, especially for $103k. It seems plausible you could get a '24 in 1st or 2nd Q '24.

That’s why I took my ‘22 platinum instead of canceling it for a ‘23. I didn’t want to wait another 10 months after already waiting a year. Plus it was a lot cheaper with price protection and 2% under invoice from granger.

Does anyone know if making an edit to your order through the dealer prior to receiving a VIN push you back in line for scheduling build date?

It shouldn't as long as you don't change trim level. I believe that once you change trim level it becomes a new order.

All I added were roof clearance lights so I guess I should be good. Just find it odd I'm priority code 10, ordered on 10/31, Ford email confirmation the next day and still haven't gotten a build date.

There is no method to their madness. Priority codes are like the points in who's line is it anyway! Everyone is awarded points/priority codes but they don't matter!

I'd check with your dealer to find out if anything in your order is under constraint that could be causing it to not get picked-up. The priority code 10 would generally indicate that you're top of the list for your dealer, but if they code everyone they take an order from with the same priority code then it doesn't matter. It also depends on their allocation (how many orders do they get each month) versus the number of orders they have (includes retail orders, fleet orders, stock orders). If they have a bunch of orders at priority code 10 and none have constraints then it will be by order date, oldest getting selected.

As @marine_wi mentioned, there's the mysterious black box that is Ford scheduling that is one factor that can't be accounted for and if all things above are not an issue, then it is just the randomness of Ford production scheduling.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are over 200K orders, so it could just be there could be dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of orders ahead of you in line. Stay patient my friend.

Yea I think im gonna wait till the 24' rolls out also. Supposed to be a short build on the 23's from what i've heard.
Unless I find a truck I would rather have over mine on the lot i'm staying with what I have.

Market value of my current 22 will determine if I'll even consider the 23 when it comes in.

Interesting Development - I got the order sheet for my truck, a 23 King Ranch, and it shows Job #1.

I realize some of the "intel" on the forums isn't worth the paper it's written on, but I thought it was a pretty well established that any trim above a Lariat is "Job 2". I asked the dealer for clarification, still waiting.

Has anyone seen this? Any thoughts?

thats the shit part of this IMO, my truck was one of the first 22s, so my MSRP on sticker is significantly lower than a late build 22 MSRP. IF i were to go order a 23, they are gonna look up th window sticker for my truck and base trade in on that MSRP, not were Ford ended at after all the price hikes.
