my guess is yes since everything still is connected, even for the Rapid-Heat Supplemental Cab heater as after watching the install video, all the buttons and knows are still powered just the chipset is hidden behind the tablet, and the physical button interface is now gone. Obviously, not confirmed but this is my strong hypothesis as I don't want to lose RHS Heater (even though I am in GA).

Could someone, potentially with Forscan try this procedure and see if it exists, using this would allow you to test the RHS-H w/ the tablet.

How do you test the system on a 2015? It's getting cold here & it doesn't seem like it's working, the air out of the vents is cool, not warm or hot. Is there a connection somewhere that may be loose or do the elements fail normally? Eventually when the truck warms up the heat is fine but I was...

Im not sure about the drawback.. If you want you can just use sync the whole time on this screen..

I'm an avid android user, every phone and tablet I've owned for the past X amount years has been android. I've noticed the OS starts to crap out, slow down, crash, or just stop working after 2/3 years with every phone and tablet I've had.

do you purge cache and "other files" that get downloaded over time? I just upgraded from a google pixel XL to a 6Pro after ~6 years and the only reason I did that was we were going to "Disney" (went to all the parks except the MK) and I wanted the better camera and magic eraser.

I do, so far my galaxy note has been the longest lasting, just over 4 years now and it's just now showing signs of screwing up when unlocking the phone.

I just ordered mine. Watching the install video, are the 4g antennas needed? I am using my truck's hotspot and will connect this to it. If I use the 4g antennas, do I need to but a data sim card for the unit? This is all pretty new to me, and I don't want to have to go digging into the dash over and over again if I miss something.

If you are not using a sim you dont need the 4g antennas

Thanks. This will connect to the hotspot like my phone does correct? My truck has just about every option, so I won't need to use the external microphone, the speaker, or the antennas/sim. Sorry for the questions, but I get a little ocd with things like this.

if you use hotspot can your phone and the screen connect for apple carplay/AA? The reason I ask is (for those that don't know) wireless AC/AA require the wifi connection.

I haven't had a chance to play with it really since I put it in. I was having a hard time getting the unit to use my WiFi though and opening up the Play Store to download maps.

Nope, I haven't tried it out yet though but I went off of other installs that didn't use it.

I'm watching closely. Not sure if I need it but it sure is tempting. If it's seamless and retains all function I may eventually join the list to upgrade. A sticky with details would be awesome for those that do.

2. why would you utilize the external mic, other than if your factor stuff died?
3. what's the purpose of the USB cable?
   1. is this due to the factory USBs only working with the sync system and these are for data/videos/media to bypass the system and play through the tablets native system?
4. Purpose of the external GPS? Is it to utilize GPS services outside the OEM Sync system?
   1. ie in relation to the question below using AC/AA outside of the oem unit or other programs such as Waze or JBV1.
5. CarPlay looks to be native to the tablet AND OEM Sync system, do you decide between the tablet or going into the console mode or whatever that was to go back to OEM Sync AC/AA integration?

I'll try to answer what I can.

1. Not too sure TBH. I didn't install it and haven't noticed a time where it would be used.
2. That's about the only time I can think of.
3. From what I can see, that factory USBs still work with the unit and outside of the Sync system. Android Auto worked plugged into the factory location.
4. I believe that's the idea.
5. OEM Sync lives inside console mode, and I didn't see an option between selecting console or the tablet in the time I've used it.
