14.4" Screen for the 2020-2021 Trucks

I really would like a front camera and this would solve that problem.
Just curious if anyone got the HD front camera and how is it?

I sent an email to AutoTec asking about the front camera. Waterproof? What kind of connector it uses?
As I want a front camera in the grill.

Never got a response from them, so still wondering if anyone has any info on this option?

One of the things I miss most about my Ram is the screen, especially the split with Android Auto on top, and the audio on the bottom.

Can this do split screen like that?

Also looking into options for a trailer camera and trailer TPMS that would work for this while we're towing.

I was wondering the same, especially if we end up with a monitor for trailer cameras and/or trailer TPMS. Looks like the 12" screen is flush and might work?

I'm watching closely. Not sure if I need it but it sure is tempting. If it's seamless and retains all function I may eventually join the list to upgrade. A sticky with details would be awesome for those that do.

So, seems like the split screen would work as it does in any Android OS. I was hoping I'd be able to have nav up top and SiriusXM on the bottom, but doesn't look like that would work. Could do Maps and YT Music, but we listen to the SiriusXM when we're towing most of the time.

I'm also wondering if the cameras can all be displayed while driving. Would be great to have maps up and be able to have the Ford trailer camera installed and displayed while we're driving.

I have a few questions…been tracking this across a few threads now and am feeling more comfortable with purchasing.

1. Have we figured out the rapid supplemental heat? Does it continue to work this unit?? I find that very odd it would not work as the factory apim is preserved.

2. Cameras: delay when shifting into reverse. Any delay above and beyond factory? Also any improvement in clarity?

3. Wireless CarPlay performance: any issues there? And is a 3rd iOS app required?

4. Screen performance: any issue viewing the screen with polarized glasses. Are you able to easily turn off and dim the display for night driving. The new 22s+ have a button that complete blacks the screen, this would be great here

1) I dont know about it, where do you select to turn it on? Is it a physical button or is it inside sync? If it's in sync it will still be there.

2) no, they are very quick

3) No, its way better than stock. (obviously because sync3 doesnt have it)

4) screen is great, you can turn the screen black if you want.

You do not control the suplmental heat, it's activated when the outside temperature is below a certain point. Not much indicates when it is on and from what I can tell there is not much information out there on it.

To circle back on the second part of my question -- anyone have experience viewing it with polarized sunglasses?

And another question -- is outside (ambient) temperature visible at all times / when using CarPlay??

I was following this thread but haven't been on here in a few months. I'm VERY interested in getting one now. My questions are, how's the boot up time in comparison to the Linkswell?, because my buddy has one in his F-250 and it's dead slow. I'd already be out of my driveway before the Linkswell boots up and I'd be able to view my backup camera. That was a huge dealbreaker for me, not to mention the loss of SNYC and steering wheel functions. I wasn't willing to give up all of those features. Has anyone found out if it will work with a NAVTV unit? I don't know why it wouldn't if it's a plug and play. Thx

The non-BS2s...

Some have wanted the ability to play videos and other tablet-type functions on their vehicle screen. I would do this for the price vs. some of those other options.

I really like the way this looks and integrates into the dash. If they come out with an option for 22 I may have to consider it more, although still not sure if the "why-buy" is there vs the 12" screen.

Since I'm not paying for connected nav mine has become more of just an Android Auto interface anyway. If it retains the other factory functionality it would be a good way to unlock some streaming/web/app possibilities. Guessing the one-year version of Sync4 for 22 may preclude that option, though...

For what it's worth, I have a '22 and recently started following this thread. I messaged with Autotec yesterday regarding '22 compatibility and they had me send some photos of the dash. They claimed it would be compatible with '22 as well since I have the 8" Sync 3 in mine. I suspect if your '22 has the sync 4 system in it though, that would not be the case. Thinking pretty hard about pulling trigger on this now and giving it a shot.

I use mine with polarized sunglasses with no issues. I was concerned too, as I had a Linkswell version in my Raptor a few years ago and couldn’t view it with my polarized sunglasses. Happy to report no issues at all with this one.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to run the ambient temperature in the status bar without rooting the tablet. You can run a widget on the home screen, but it won’t be visible when using CarPlay or any apps.

Anyone with a 21 and under without sync 4 don't think twice. The unit retains all the factory options and adds alot of features. I was on the fence about all these units until I found the Autotec, it's snappy and faster responding than the stock unit. Absolutely awesome.

I read thru all 75 pages on the F150 forums on this and decided to pull the trigger on what appears to be the same unit from AliExpress for $400 cheaper than AutoTec was going to be. I will let y’all know if I end up getting screwed or it is junk

You more than likely have a plug in the wrong spot on the back, I had the same sound issue haha.

I definitely have one there and checked to make sure they were all the way on. I think I'll take it out and plug back in. Because it seems to be something that simple. Probably won't be today but will definitely keep you posted. Thanks and have a great day.
