14.4" Screen for the 2020-2021 Trucks

I have manual A/C, the controls do nothing for me. So I did have my phone Bluetooth connected to the Ford apim. So I could talk hands free. The rest is through the tablet and Starlink. IU also use Android, So everything for me is through google and merges seamlessly, There are things like about the full version of google maps that the Android auto does not support, at least I have found it not to do. Why have a light version when you can have the full thing. and at 50 a month for 50 gigs on the Starlink roam plan, I just leave it connected so it is always ready. I have a Ecoflow set up in my truck so it stays on, unless I turn it off. I toyed with getting a Apple device but I just cant seem to fall in love with them, color be damned. I love that orange!!!! I do wish companies cared more about android integration as the do Apple. If I was running a Apple device not sure if I would try to get the 2 to play together as I have it set up. Before the Starlink I had my phone wifi on and the screen connected through this, now this way I got wireless android auto. But 1 trip to Arkansas showed the flow in that. The mountains there sucked for any cell service. No I don't have a concern.

My personal phone is an android and work is an iPhone so like you I can try AA vs aCP. So does the android connect via AA wireless while still using starlink wifi? If so that will be great and just means I would use my android, it's usually running anyway bc I connect Highway Radar (android only app) to my Uniden R8 (radar/laser detector) which is running as a secondary to Waze for police and other alerts. Usually my starlink is suction cupped to my sunroof anyway.

I you you have a a google account this should run all apps independently. You really wouldn't need your phone for anything other than a phone. Andriod Auto is dead to me now lol.

Now I will say there are some apps out there that DO NOT play well with the version of tablet I have. For instance the tablet wont connect to the sPOD through blutooth. I can download and use the app but it controls nothing. So I use my 4g phone for that since for a while that was my truck phone. I would love the ability to connect to the sPOD with the tablet.

When I went through the install, it appears that is only necessary for the car data ? Do you know if it is required for the other radio functionalities? If it's 'needed' for the power and accessory that's easy enough.

The OBD doesn't need to be full-time use for deleted trucks but that's good to know as i run a CTS3 fulltime in my truck since new, it was from one of my 6.0litres.

ODBII was full time with my H&S tuner. That's the entirety of my tuner experience. Never occurred to me others behave differently.

I'm going to rephrase. Please check to make sure other mods are not utilizing the OBDII port, they don't share well. I tried it with my little bit older Kenwood head unit. No joy. It's just a radio, not a direct replacement.

Oh I was just saying on our trucks, if you are tuned, you don't need to have the OBD port tied to your tuning device at all times like some vehicles require. It's only required if you want data monitoring or updating/flashing a new tune. If you have SOTF adjustability it is through the fuel temp sensor or CAC sensor.

The Merge Screen only offers the Tesla screen for 17-21 models and the 13.2 for the 22's so that's a no-go on that one.

As for the Forge Trucks option, I got caught up in another rabbit hole so I held off. But I would purchase this one over other models.

Have you guys seen this option of "tesla" screen but aligns more so with the 22+ trucks (tesla in landscape without the sync 4 programming issues). Not a vendor just came across this today, didn't want to create a new thread since this is about the same alignment.
