Im not sure about the drawback.. If you want you can just use sync the whole time on this screen..
How quick does it boot? What's the time delay for 360 degree cameras to activate?
The first time overnight it takes 14 seconds (I timed it) with the splash screen. The rest of the day it takes about 1 second, the flip into reverse with cameras is instant. 0 lag.

Last question, what about the activation time of 360 cameras from a hard press of camera button? I use 360 cameras when I pull into garage.

I had the same question! I use the 360 cameras often and like having the physical button.
Looks like the button is still there. Just on the top part of housing around the screen.
Following this closely as I may pull the trigger in either the 12 or the 14.
Well my system is waiting for me at home (in the rain). I was going to install it ASAP, but my backup camera started acting up over the weekend. Now I'm on the fence over waiting until after the new camera is installed by the dealer (warranty) or just going for it now.
Back up cam started acting up a month ago. Dealer replaced it.
Well I couldn't wait, I got the system installed last night. Overall I'm very happy with it, the install was fairly strait forward after watching the video. The only thing to really watch for is the hardware provided. It's not really sized correctly and the steel is brittle. The unit is very responsive, probably even more so than the Sync 4 I'm use to. It was getting late so I didn't get to really customize the settings on the unit, but there will be a lot of tweaking to get it 100%.
In all honesty I was looking for a comparable to the Sync 4 15" screen in our F150 Lightning, and this is pretty close.

I'm interested! Looks like an awesome upgrade for us first gen Tremor owners. Let us know what you think after some more time using it.

Yep first thing I did was reach for the volume knob, it will be missed. I really like that Ford kept the knob on the 15" OEM screens.
I'm trying to figure out a more seamless way of getting internet connection to the radio. I was originally going to use hotspot from my phone, but that's going to be a PIA with my Samsung as it always needs to be turned back on. I might just bite the bullet and get a SIM card for it.
Couple questions...
What is the external microphone for? (is the OEM microphone is not compatible)?
If the "external microphone is now the one for phone calls, are ppl on the other end happy with it?
What is the "external speaker" that he mounts onto the top of the radio module for?
And as someone else asked, is Fordpass still working? remote start etc?

would be kind of cool if they incorporate the full Lightening or Expedition sync (even if faux environment) into this tablet since it's native to portrait mode. Probably not since the architecture isn't there behind the screen. How is the applyCarplay connectivity? Automatic?

my guess is yes since everything still is connected, even for the Rapid-Heat Supplemental Cab heater as after watching the install video, all the buttons and knows are still powered just the chipset is hidden behind the tablet, and the physical button interface is now gone. Obviously, not confirmed but this is my strong hypothesis as I don't want to lose RHS Heater (even though I am in GA).
Could someone, potentially with Forscan try this procedure and see if it exists, using this would allow you to test the RHS-H w/ the tablet.

How do you test the system on a 2015? It's getting cold here & it doesn't seem like it's working, the air out of the vents is cool, not warm or hot. Is there a connection somewhere that may be loose or do the elements fail normally? Eventually when the truck warms up the heat is fine but I was...

Like I mentioned earlier, for reference for folks. There is a 15.6" screen coming out midyear with the volume knob that mimics the Ford lightning screen. The 15.6" will not retain the APIM like this 14.4" has. Personally I think the 14.4" will be what I go with, but I'd rather have patience and make the educated choice.
