Let me just join the Breitling gang over here... The only thing I have a complaint about is how fast the lettering on the dial faded ( after basically two weeks). Wondering if it's worth putting in a warranty request for.

Hey Breitling brother. This is actually quite common, unfortunately. It's still under warranty obviously; however it'll have to be sent to Switzerland for inspection which may take up to several months to get it back. I would contact your authorized dealer first and proceed from there. The following Reddit thread mentions your similar situation. Hope this helps:

Thanks for the info! I'll for sure do some investigating

Hey Briski, check this out. Blackened steel Stealth version from the early 90s. So going on almost 35 years with this one. Still runs great!

I love this watch. I could buy something more expensive but why would I? I drive a Ford, not a Lamborghini
Cheers 🍻

Here’s an oddball that I picked up a few years ago. It’s quartz but it had just enough of an odd look that I had to have it. I remember it cost me more than $100 but less than $200. I have seen it referred to as “the canteen.”

I use a fist's width at arms length. 45 minutes per. You need to know the sunrise or sunset time. Accurate within minutes. Doesn't work too well on a cloudy day.

Brand new PO 600M 39.5mm. I also have the AW Ultra but the Seamaster is special. View attachment 140819
I started diving in the early 70s — back in the days when very few watches were waterproof, and very few people wore dive watches. Oddly, mostly divers wore dive watches.

I had flooded several allegedly waterproof watches made by Timex, Westclox, and others. Then my grandpa died and left me a gold watch I'd never be able to wear, so I went to the local jeweler and asked if he sold a watch that was actually waterproof and he pointed me to a Rolex submariner. (He didn’t sell Doxa or Omega). Back then, a Rolex sub was about $700 and the trade on my grandpa’s watch covered half of it. That was a lot of money back then, and I’m sure I got screwed on the trade value, but this was almost ten years before the advent of dive computers, and a functioning dive watch was essential gear for divers.

I put more than 1000 dives on that watch, including several dozen over 150’ deep, and never had a problem. Then, in 1983, it stopped working and I took the watch to a Rolex dealer. The repair guy asked how long it had been since the last service. Service? He informed me that the seals dry out and the Rolex watches need to be serviced at least every other year to retain waterproofing… Fortunately, the watch was fine. It hadn’t leaked, but it did require servicing. I had it fully serviced.

By that time I was working in a dive shop and we sold Heuer, Citizen, and others. I stopped diving with the Rolex, because the servicing costs exceeded the cost of other watches that were more accurate and had more features — and that started me on a 40+ year dive watch collecting journey. Only three of my watches have any significant value — two Rolexes and an Omega — but the rest are functional and cool. I’m too old for the commercial work and deep diving of my youth, but I still occasionally dive when I visit warm water places. I’ll post some watch pictures later.
