Love it. [Vermonster's Marlin]
Reminds me of the .22 marlin 39a I learned to shoot on. Just missing thumbscrew on receiver for takedown.
Here's a 1951 39A, pre-Microgroove rifling. Known as the "Peanut" version for the design of the pistol butt cap on the bottom of the shoulder stock.
I installed XS Sights Systems ghost ring rear/white line post front. I got the idea from the sights that the few Remington-made Marlin (2018, before Ruger rescued the failing operation), an example shown here.
This is a .44 Mag chambered Model 1894SBL and was made using XS ghost ring irons.
^ ^ ^ That's a buddy's Labradar. I forget which load's performance is being displayed at 1667 fps, but it's either the 240 gr Federal American Eagle or it's the Win white box 240 gr... either way, that's moving from just a bit longer barrel (handgun barrel lengths have those loads going maybe 1250 fps).
I've four additional Marlin and have ordered XS ghost ring setups for those. Just haven't put 'em on yet. Too much goin' on around here!
I love the J.M. Browning-designed Winchesters, with the Model 1892 my favorite for it's practicalily (revolver cartridge chamberings) but mainly for it's beautiful proportion.
Marlin are not as pretty in comparision but I'll be damned if the Marlins don't just shoulder better, field strip easier and shoot just as well. I'm a Marlin man for sure (though I own two Win 1892 clones - one in .44 Mag, the other in .357 Mag).
