What’s in your gun safe?

Thought I lost this in my safe. So glad I found it! The best thing is that it doesn't require a CCW 🤪.

I collect C&R guns from WW1-WW2 era (no bubba, I research the markings & history as a hobby as well as clean/maintain for the living historical memory of those guns to pass down to my kids) as well as a the typical AR and stuff with some "expensive" guns like SCAR 17, M1014, APC9K, a bunch of modern pistols & wheel guns. If y'all ever want or need to get rid of any Milsurp, hit me up, I'm still after a few. :ROFLMAO:

Another C&R collector here.😉

How do you like that APC9K?

Given some new bolt action products that are hitting the streets, seems as I'm going to be spending more money in 2025. Nothing like innovation and peer pressure to buy a new toy. Just need to consider do I jump into a new caliber, of just buy a caliber I already have on hand.

What's your caliber of choice?

Rifles : .223/5.56(bolt & gas); 6.5CM (bolt & gas); 30-06 (bolt)
Pistols : .45ACP (of course); 9mm (most practical); .38/.357 wheel guns (practical as well)
Considering : Some of the rifle PRC variants, there's a new 7 BackCountry whatever that is, 28 Nosler. Choices will be narrowed due to the calibers the builder is offering.

I'd like to stay SA, but some LA calibers are very interesting.

I have most of my rifles in .308. Seems to be a good round for Vermont hunting, so naturally I purchased an AR10. I took that hunting one year too - it was a little heavier than my traditional rifle, but overall did the job well! :)

@Vermonster : I agree with the large AR-10 platform weight. I do think it's sort of funny guys build out a bolt action on a chassis that ends up weighing the same as the large AR-10. I know both styles have pros/cons...so to each their own with those choices. To another some build out heavy PSR bolt actions as well....just another flavor.

I started playing with a R700 carbon barreled bolt action...loved it. Using another brand bolt action but with a fluted steel barrel I dressed it out pretty much the same as the R700. They are SO close in weight I realized the carbon barrel wasn't about loosing weight in the rifle. I think people forget how much a scope adds to a rifle weight. The scope should be durable, but not be a boulder for weight. Hard to do both very well.

Anyway....2025 is going to be hard. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

That sounds super sexy! Agree about the scopes. It's funny, I was running an AimPoint Pro on my AR10 and then added a 4x magnifier to it - every little bit adds up. Just something to keep in mind when I bag a deer and have a backpack full of gear and a rifle to deal with deep in the back country on foot. lol

At one point I was using a TC Encore Pro, just carry extra rounds in a stock slip on ammo holder. I could shoot and reload for a follow up with reasonable timing. I still have it around, just need to dust it off. I have a 30-06 barrel for it, there's a .300WM barrel somewhere. I may go get a 6.5CM barrel for the TC.

Nice shooting rifle if you REALLLY want to go skinny. I'm surprised at how popular they still are with the ROKSLIDE crowd.

The new releases coming have a bolt action rifle in sort of a chassis style folding stock. SUPER clean hunting setup, just not the sexxxy bolt action for the range days people see most of the time. I'd say if you saw the rifle at your dealer you would take a pass. I know it's crazy to say the "looks" aren't selling it, but that IS a consumer draw.

Man I dig that!

SA barrel is 20" while the LA gets a 22" barrel. These are going to use a quick change barrel, so you can buy different bolt head, and barrel to match. SUPER easy to swap around same action sized calibers, NO bedding since it's on a mini-chassis. Remove the action, take barrel off, swap stuff around, HAND tighten the barrel (there is a clamp/set screw of sorts). Done. It's going to be interesting to see if guys run two very different calibers with the same scope or just buy a second scope.
BTW .308 flavor uses a 1:11.25 twist that I thought was an odd number but i know it must work.

Just reading your caliber list I’d definitely say you’re missing a PRC, and since you already have an -06 in the stable I see no reason not go with the 300 PRC to round out the top end of your stable.

It's just the whole....I got to buy ANOTHER caliber of ammo.:rolleyes: I really don't want to do that at this point honestly. Given the new action design (of sorts) I may (no pun intended 😜 ) bite the bullet. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
