Vecman's Build - Boyhood Dreams Realized!

Installed the front hidden eco hitch today and replaced my tow hooks to black ones. Wasn’t bad at all. Only hiccup was that the front plastic fascia around the tow hooks refused to go back on. It wasn’t lined up properly, which confused the heck out of me. I had to cut some plastic off and make it work. Can’t notice it unless you know where to look. I’m hoping the front flag plate I have coming will also help hide it. Very happy with the black/chrome front look now. View attachment 51267
Man that does look good. Blacking out that btm really brings yours eyes up to the chrome and emblem above.

@Modman, while finishing up the bumper project, thought it might be time to throw on that front lightbar from F150LEDs. No matter where/how I placed it, it wouldn’t sit level, nor would it sit far enough under the grill to even allow for a mounting solution. I think it’s a no go. I think I’m gonna just mount it to my son’s ranger 150. I’m pretty pissed about it, since I wouldn’t have bought it had I known. I’m very hopeful someone will come up with a behind the grill solution. I have a few ideas also, but it’s gonna have to wait.

Thanks for the update - as you know I originally had interest in that one but am thinking a behind the grill solution as well, if I do anything. Possibly using a couple Diode Dynamics mini light bars. I have thought about this a little, but there is no rush for me so there might be a commercially available solution by the time a get around to it!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. There’s a lot of space back there for a couple smaller bars on each side. Just have to figure out a mounting solution. Hopefully a company does that for us soon! Need more stealth options for these trucks

Does the amsoil severe gear have the additive needed for limited slip, or is it even needed?
I thought that was for front diff? Not sure. But I only put in that and they didn't mention adding anything that I saw.

FINALLY!!! Got to head up north to the Mogollon Rim for some father/son camping. Got to take her off road and have some fun! It was a quick trip, but nice to go up to 40-60 degree weather when it’s pushing close to 100 already in the valley.

Decided to go with the Truxedo Sentry CT tonneau cover. Very happy with how this turned out. Easy install, love that it keeps my full bed access intact, and it’s easy to roll and secure when I need to fully opened.

I did go with Retrax on my wife’s Ranger. Wanted the security for her needs, since the bed isn’t large anyway, didn’t care about the losing space to the drum in the bed, and went with the option for track mounted accessories to allow for more options due to the smaller size of the truck bed. She’s happy, and I think it’s a great option for this truck

Why are some connectors male and some female?
The 40 amp connections were a different brand. The other 4 are the same. I have the plugs together in the truck, so it keeps the debris out while I wait to add more things to connect. The gray deutsch connectors are placed together. Not sure about the black on, I think it’s make with the numbers on it

I know you have the Banks i dash, is the a way to show oil pressure? Also what things are you showing? Thank you.

I haven’t gone through to see what it will show, as I’m just using it for my Pedal Monster for now. Once they release the Derringer for the 22 diesel, then it will show a lot. I will configure different screens based on different situations.

I’ve had a box of SPE Motorsport stuff here at the house, waiting to be installed. I’ve been waiting on the disaster prevention kit. Website says 1 week lead time, so, in classic SPE fashion, it took a little over 2 months to get delivered. It was missing part of the exo filter setup (didn’t find out till later) but no biggie, I could install that later.
So, prevention kit is here, radiator hose and cold pipes, CCV reroute, all here. So today was the day to tackle all this…..

It was an absolute miserable experience.

Took almost 4 hours to take off the pipes, and pull out the upper /lower manifolds. Mind you, I’m not a mechanic, but I can follow instructions and videos. Had to go get some tools too (swivel adapter for my socket wrench) to reach some of these insanely placed bolts. But, finally got everything out

Okay, here we go, ready to start installing! Pull out the control module or whatever it is, making sure to keep eveything clean and away from the fuel pump. Had the kit built and easy to go. But wait, why isn’t the unit fitting into the SPE kit?

That’s as far as it would go into the SPE base. I should have taken a picture from the bottom, to show it was hitting metal. I am beyond frustrated! All that work for nothing! That was such a miserable experience, I hated to give up. But I tried for 2 hours to think of anything I may be doing wrong. It just didn’t fit. So, I buttoned everything back done (which wasn’t as bad as removing it luckily) - installed the new items, and closed shop. After almost 8 hours under the hood, I’m exhausted. I decided to skip the CCV reroute, as I was just so mad, frustrated, and honestly just tired of reaching into small crazy spaces to take bolts off. If I want to do that in the future, it can be done fairly easily without doing anything else.

I’m going to reach out to SPE on Monday and see what the heck is up. It’s a 2020+ kit, so there should be no issues. Such a waste of a Saturday. So disappointed.

Filled up the coolant, and took her for a short spin to get her up to temp and let the coolant circulate around. Engine light came on. Crap. I did something wrong. Drove over to autozone, had them pull the codes. Intake air pressure/temperature sensor. Hmm. Ahh, forgot to plug the sensor back in. Plugged it in, cleared the codes, no more issues! Whew!! I mean, I didn’t have any parts/bolts left over, so pretty sure I put everything back where it should go. Haha. Glad it was just that.
