What is Centramatics?
Sounds like a nice upgrade! The audio in this truck is pretty disappointing the more I listen too it. Mind if I ask who you had do it and how much?A few more updates. Had a new stereo system installed. I wasn’t going to do this, but then stopped by a car audio place, went into the sound booth, and realized how much better aftermarket stereos really do sound. So, jumped down that rabbit hole. Here’s the details:
BLAM Signature MultiX 6.5” and 3” woofers in the front doors. Bracket allows both speakers to fit in stock location.
BLAM Signature tweeters in stock locations
BLAM Signature 3” in center console
BLAM Signature 6.5” coaxials in the rear doors
MTI ported behind the seat sub enclosure with 10” Kicker shallow sub
Soundshield deadening in the doors and wherever else they put it
Helix 12 channel amp with DSP
Helix mono amp for sub
ZEN NAV A2B unit
I think that’s about it. Extremely happy with the sound. So much cleaner and louder and just more pleasurable. The 3-way components up front are absolutely amazing. And the bass output is more than plenty for my needs. Wow’d a few high school kids - that was fun!
I’ll get some pictures soon. They accidentally installed an underseat sub box. So they’re remedying that issue on Friday. Then I’ll snag some pics of everything I can.
Handcrafted Car Audio not far from me. It was about $12k. Very pricey, but I decided to spend a bit more on the top of the line MultiX speakers. Glad I did.Sounds like a nice upgrade! you painted all of the vents with krylon? Not sure I understood exactly which part was painted.Bought an air vent with gauge pod from Block8head on Facebook for a customer liking iDash gauge installation. Took about 6 weeks. He painted it silver, which didn’t match the platinum interior at all. Never did find an exact color match, but was able to get a recommendation for Krylon specialty stainless
Just the new gauge pod. They come raw or, in my case, painted totally the wrong coloryou painted all of the vents with krylon? Not sure I understood exactly which part was painted.
Yeah, I thought $5-7k if i didn’t install it. It’s been 20+ years since I’ve done any aftermarket audio. I guess my pricing is stuck in the 90’s!
Cleary i had no idea how much car stereo systems cost. I figured maybe 1-3k, never have i though they could be above 10k.
Oh i see. I had to google it to understand that it is actually a custom one piece. From your photo angle i couldnt see what they did - pretty clever.Just the new gauge pod. They come raw or, in my case, painted totally the wrong color
Yeah, I thought this looked the best to keep a “stock” look to the truck.Oh i see. I had to google it to understand that it is actually a custom one piece. From your photo angle i couldnt see what they did - pretty clever.
Could you please explain briefly what exactly the pedal monster does for you that you see as a benefit over stock 6.7. There aren’t any brushed platinum interior parts right next to this one, so the color is very very close. It’s not exact, but whil driving or just sitting in the truck, you don’t really notice the difference. If you put the stock vent next to this one, you can see a difference, but I’m happy with this. Waiting on the Derringer tuner for the 22 to come out. Installed the pedal monster and man, what a difference that made to pedal feel. Love that also. Someone showed how they zip tied it above the pedal. I followed that method. Nice and clean and tucked up.

Here’s a pic of the krylon if anyone cares.

Stock, I feel like I have to really push into the pedal before the engine starts to do anything. Seems laggy. After installing the pedal monster, I barely start to push on the pedal and it responds well. Seems much more natural. The responsiveness is programmable to your liking, based on settings you can change on the fly. My wife and I ran some errands and she even commented that the truck seemed quicker. Well, clearing my throat, that stock audio system just started sounding a whole lot betterHandcrafted Car Audio not far from me. It was about $12k. Very pricey, but I decided to spend a bit more on the top of the line MultiX speakers. Glad I did.
I think you could do a nice upgraded system yourself for around $4-$5k. I paid around $3500 for install time/parts/tuning the DSP I believe. But I really didn’t want to do all this myself. It took them 4 full days. Would have taken me weeks. The speaker upgrade I decided on jacked the price almost another $2k. If I would have kept the speakers one level less, and done the install myself, it would have been around $6-7k. But I decided that $2k wasn’t much more when I was already gonna do the system, and I didn’t want to take weeks to get it done. A bit more than I wanted to spend? Yes, for sure. Do I think it turned out great and was worth it? Absolutely yes. I love music, and I’m a bit of an audiophile. So for me, yes. That stock audio system just started sounding a whole lot better
Man, I had no idea those systems cost that much. I guess the $3,000- $4,000 audio upgrade days are long gone.
I bet that’s one hell of a system you have in there. Hope you enjoy it and glad you’re happy with it. You have a great build going!
Did you notice any difference with the exhaust ?View attachment 42628View attachment 42627Banks exhaust done (bolt on the top has since been painted black as well). Someone else on the forum had painted the pipes black. I did the same. Looks fantastic
No. Just think it looks better. I don’t notice any sound change or anything else.Did you notice any difference with the exhaust ?
Would be nice if there were a plug n play solution for these trucks regarding upgrading the speakers, amp and subsI think you could do a nice upgraded system yourself for around $4-$5k. You can buy the JL Stealthbox and a Audio Control LCI2 to upgrade the bass for less than $2k if you do it yourself. I've got a full system replacement planned. The two Audiocontrol amps are around $1600 and the JL Stealthbox is $1700. I'm torn on the door speakers. Thinking JL C3-650's. Decisions, decisions. Of course, my setup also requires the NAV TV Zen A2B to integrate so that's another $700. Sound deadening material...the list goes on and on.Would be nice if there were a plug n play solution for these trucks regarding upgrading the speakers, amp and subs
