Upfitter Wiring Harness Discussion

You can run the ground cable towards the outside of the engine bay, down, and around the support the ground post is threaded into. Then it won’t interfere with the gas strut for the hood.

Personally, I found it a lot easier to attach it to one of the large ground nuts against the firewall.
Thanks. I just went forward toward the battery then to the right through a small channel in the fender then to the Ground post. The strut does not touch at all with is route. Though I will have to remove the ground cable if I ever need to change the battery.

ill have a new batch of harnesses available later this week for those who have been waiting. appreciate the continued support and patience.

Harnesses are now in stock and ready to ship.

Please reach out with any questions.

Ordered! Are you going to get more caps in stock?

I installed mine today. Pretty straightforward job. The harness is great. Ford sure went out of their way to make it a bit more of a challenge than it needs to be, but overall, not too bad.

The caps are included with the harnesses now so I don’t sell them individually.

Appreciate the support!
Are you still including these? My harness arrived yesterday without the caps but otherwise is perfect.

Shoot me a message. It’s possible I packed a bit too quick and forgot to put the caps on the harness before I put it in the package. I’ll get them shipped out to you

They are not in a separate bag. They are usually already clicked onto the end of the connectors. Can you share a quick pic of your harness?

Trying to install this kit and some lights this weekend and looking for some help. The lights I have came with a harness that has two power wires, but also two additional wires that are intended to go to switches, for the lights themselves and the backlights.

Any idea if/how these could work with the upfitter harness provided?

I do not use the harness' that come with the lights. Since I have upfitters, they are already fused and have relays. All you need to do is use the connector part of the harness (and the wire) and hook the positive to whichever upfitter you desire and if you want a separate wire to the backlights, hook them up to a different upfitter. Ground the negative wire wherever convenient.

The relay supplied is generally for people without upfitters.

Mine would be the backlight option with the 3 wires.

Thinking I would combine the purple and positive wire and crimp that to one upfitter, and then the green would go to another if I wanted the backlight to be switched?
1) When NOT using the provided harness :
>> You don't need the Purple together with the Red.
>>> Cut the provided harness at the best junction to have the three wires (Green, Red, Black). >>> Green wire could be spliced to an IGN ON source (As in the PTO bundle already there).
>>> Splice the Red to whatever OEM Up-fitter.
>>> Splice Black to Ground (grounding point).

2) Using the provided harness :
>> Set Red ring terminal to Battery +. Set Black ring terminal to Battery -.
>> Remove the provided switches from the harness (Purple wire // Green Wire)
>> Splice OEM up-fitter to Purple wire for main beam use as desired.
>> Splice OEM up-fitter to Green wire for back light use as desired (POSSIBLE to use IGN ON PTO wire as the feed here as well. Backlight would be ON any time you have Power On or Motor On.)

#2 solution maintains the "as provided" LED bar connections, limits cutting, keeps provided relay in place (no big deal as the OEM up-fitters already have a relay in use as well).
You MIGHT be able to source the LED bar 3-wire connector with pigtail at any auto store, so you just keep the provided harness in whole. Splice the pigtail as directed in #1.

If there's any questions just ask.

Misunderstood "backlighting". This makes sense now. Thanks for the clarity. 👍

Thank you so much! Going for option 2, much appreciated!

Apologies, @HeavyAssault, one more question. The purple and green wires are very thin. They aren't labeled with a gauge, but they are almost certainly smaller than the 14ga wires I've read the upfitter pigtails are. Any concern with connecting those together?
