Upfitter Wiring Harness Discussion

Who sells these wire harnesses and has the side mirror lights came out yet?

Perhaps you can extend the ground point with a small length of flat stock, to create a bus bar, then you will be in the clear of the strut. Flat stock with two drilled holes and one bolt and nut needed.
100%. I just took a mic measurement of both holes…. 0.25” and 0.400” that’s what I’m gonna make tonight at work lol. Great minds think a like!!

I am about to start my install in my ‘22 7.3 and I have a couple of questions:

Is there any use for the 4 PTO connections if you didn’t order that option? Are they worth wiring up if I have no provision to use them or do they have some function I could use them for? (I was considering snipping them off to save space if they have no useful function without that option from the factory)

Where is everyone leaving the new bundle of connections? Facing up in the engine bay or tucked down below the relay box? Today I pulled out the upfitter relay box to work on it on my bench and was just thinking about where to tuck all the wires in when I reinstall it.

Anyone have any pictures of it installed on a 20-22 7.3 truck they can share?

Thanks!

Follow up…. Went to close my hood today.. fortunately I am not one to slam things, the cable here hits the support strut on the hood so now I have to rethink this a little bit….

This should do it! 100% copper. I’ll see how it fits in the morning.

One other question about the PTO wires - aside from the B+, the harness has them labelled as PTO 1-3 which does not correspond to the factory labels. Does it matter which goes where? Since I may never use them I’m thinking it doesn’t unless I missed something.

My truck has a grounding bolt right beside the battery. It’s a 5/16” long headed bolt

I have the same bolt never thought of it as the grounding point are you certain it actually does ground?

I mean, it’s an inch long threads into all metal, I assume so…. Tbh I think it’s specifically a grounding point.

Looks like a “minus” right on it

I am also interested in this. Anyone have an answer? Cheers!

I do think it’s funny that this bolt all this time was looking right at us and yet there was the whole discussion a few pages back on where to ground on a 23, with some weird ideas to go across to driver side amongst them. Looks like you might have figured it out👍🏼

Looks great, 1" endmill on a Bridgeport? @TRAMPER
😉

Nope…. Belive it or not that hunk of copper was off of an old fuse (yes we have fuses that big) that was one of the blades on the end of the fuse. I just clipped it off polished it up and drilled the holes. Machining was all there already. It was free and I think it’ll work great!

Obviously i smoothed it all out so it would look nice lol

If you wanna get fancy, mill a slot recess so the lug doesn't rotate when you tighten it :sneaky:

I didn’t even hook mine up. They’re there if I ever need them but i can’t even guess as to for what or how so I didn’t bother.
