Been thinking of where the first dirt should be.
That won't be until late March I'm afraid.

Got some interesting numbers to share. I took my truck to a CAT scale to weigh today.
Stock truck. No cargo other than myself. I weigh about 165 lb.
Steer axle: 4880 lb
Drive axle: 3220 lb
What I find interesting is that the GVWR of the truck (11,500) minus the actual gross weight (8,100) equals 3,400 lb of available payload. This is pretty close to the “sticker” payload of 3,294 lb.
Additionally, on the Rear GAWR sticker rating of 6,830 lb minus my actual rear drive axle weight of 3,220 lb gives me 3,610 lb of headroom on my rear axle without overloading it. This means that I would be over the GVWR of the truck before I was ever able to be over the Rear gross axle weight rating.

Oh! Good question. Between 3/4 and 7/8 full when I weighed. This is some good detailed data. Love how people are getting on the scales to verify.
How full was your tank?
Crazy. Wonder what that extra 200 pounds is between payload sticker and GVWR (if I'm thinking about this math right).Oh! Good question. Between 3/4 and 7/8 full when I weighed.
I’m going to fill the fuel tank to 100% and weigh again today to see if that sheds any light on the subject.Crazy. Wonder what that extra 200 pounds is between payload sticker and GVWR (if I'm thinking about this math right).
Is it possible that Ford gives the Rear Axle a higher weight rating when paired with the 5th wheel hitch prep kit? If not, then it's really confusing why we would have different Rear GAWR's.Interesting. I've also put mine on a scale. Mine's a 350 KR Ultimate with 7.3 for comparison.
Specs: GVWR 11,300 | FAWR 4,800 | RAWR 6,950 | Cargo Sticker 3,647
Scale: Front 4,277 | Rear 3,373 | Total 7,650 | Calculated Cargo 3,650
Observations:
-I was in the truck (~240lbs) so would have thought the calculated cargo would be lower, also almost full tank of fuel, tonneau as well
-I wonder why my RAWR is higher than the truck above?
-It's interesting that my rear axle scaled higher, I do have the 5th wheel kit and a tonneau, maybe that's the difference
-6,950 - 3,373 = 3,577
Interesting numbers. I've always had the impression the payload is the GVWR minus the weight of the truck from the factory. Maybe they include an estimated driver weight now?
Although I might hit 150 lbs fully clothed and with boots. Seems closer to 200 lbs would be a better weight to use.IT SHOULD INCLUDE A FULL TANK OF FUEL AND A 150 LB DRIVER.
When I weighed mine at a DOT scale if taking out the cargo and my self, my payload sticker was also around 200 lbs less than what what would put me at rated GVWR. Wonder if others are seeing the same?Crazy. Wonder what that extra 200 pounds is between payload sticker and GVWR (if I'm thinking about this math right).
I believe that the 4:30 gears in the 7.3L may have something to do with the slightly higher RAWR but not positive. Is it possible that Ford gives the Rear Axle a higher weight rating when paired with the 5th wheel hitch prep kit? Update - I just realized I never posted a pic of my reweigh. Here’s the weigh results on my stock truck (options listed in post above) with a full tank of fuel.I’m going to fill the fuel tank to 100% and weigh again today to see if that sheds any light on the subject.
You have the 6 passenger configuration. Probably why it’s lower than the 5 passenger configuration. Doubt the roof has anything to do with it.

Moonroof option adds 35# to the front and 64# to the rear. Tailgate step subtracts 8# from the front and adds 33# to the rear. Etc... Maximum Payload Rating Weight Less Total Actual Regular Production Option Content Weight = Net Payload. You have the 6 passenger configuration. I have the same truck. Can you tell me what the maximum trailer weight would be? We will be towing a fifth wheel with ours.Got some interesting numbers to share. I took my truck to a CAT scale to weigh today.

Well said... my recommendation is to take your 5th wheel to a cat scale and weigh your entire rig. Ideally do the weigh when you are fully loaded with all passengers and gear both in the truck and the trailer. Then verify you’re not over your GVWR, GCWR, and the Rear GAWR. If you weigh with the trailer empty (water tanks, luggage, food, etc) then be sure that when you compare your numbers that you have several hundred pounds of headroom else you’re likely to be overweight once you load everything. If you have the 'exact same' truck then subtract you, your pax, your fuel load, and everything in the bed from 3294. The remainder is how much tongue weight you can legally handle.
You do know your pin weight?
Note that I said 'legally'. It doesn't matter what the Cat scale and your New Math says if you plow into a soccer mom and her kids. Her lawyer will only want to know your door jamb sticker numbers and what all you have in the truck and the 5er pin wt.
