Tremor Payload??

Door sticker vs reality. I got a F350 Tremor (11,500 GVWR) in December - dealer got registration kicked back by DMV as they did not weigh the truck when it arrived (Calif. thing I guess). So dealer called and asked me to meet them at certified scale so they could get the truck weighed for DMV.

Met up and the truck weighed 7,956 lbs. with 1/2 tank of fuel and my stuff in it (under back seat full with recovery gear, tools, jumper battery and cables, first aid kit, trailer slides etc. - 100 lbs. +/-).

My door sticker is 3,127 - suggesting my truck weights 8,373 lbs. (11,500 - 3,127). Not sure how Ford gets to their weights, but even if I had full tank of fuel my truck would not crack 8,000 lbs. (7,956 + 139 of added fuel - 100 of stuff = 7,995).

My truck is loaded (only left off LED headlights and AS) and have all the heavy options, winch, moonroof etc. Found it interesting that my actual weight was so far below my sticker weight.

That is interesting. Payload is calculated with full fluids, including a full tank of fuel, but as you say your weights wouldn’t line up even with that.

I'm inclined to believe the scale was wrong. It's tough to see how the diesel with winch and moonroof would be under 8000 pounds.

I don’t think we have confirmation either way whether the winch is accounted for in the factory sticker. Since it’s dealer installed, it wouldn’t surprise me if the factory sticker does not account for it.
Agree... And as stated many times before it doesn't matter from a legal perspective - the weight counts against GVWR no matter what. Certainly confirming whether it is or isn't in the sticker is helpful though!

Could be - it was a CAT certified scale for trucks (semi's) - next time I tow I will hit another CAT Certified scale that is on my way to Glamis and see what it shows.

My f250 6.7 weighed exactly 8600 with fuel toolbox wife and German Shepherd lariat ultimate....no moonroof, no adaptive steering, no adabtive cruise, no winch.

Doesn't paid also account for an assumed 2 passengers at 150 lb each, making an additional 300 lb deduction from GVWR?

Quoting myself from my Towing and Payload Rating Guide:

Does payload capacity account for a 150-pound driver? No. This is a common misconception, but the payload capacity listed in the door jamb only accounts for full fluids – no passengers. A common source of this misconception is that tow ratings certified by J2807 (discussed further in the towing section below) require the manufacturer to assume a 150-pound driver; however, J2807 does not certify GVWR and therefore the driver weight requirement does not apply to payload capacity.

Making my contribution here after 9 months of waiting, this one might be helpful for those seemingly few of us who chose the third seat up front (aka bench, aka jumpseat) over the console.

Truck is a Lariat with the 6.7, Lariat Ultimate, Moonroof, 5th wheel prep, jumpseat/bench-front, carpet delete, Ultimate Trailer Tow, and some other little stuff that probably doesn't add much discernable weight (see attached window sticker for exact options).

Total payload is 3241:

For an instate purchase, they can go by Ford's weight numbers. Did you buy it out of state?

No - bought in California - but my truck is "commercial" registration - so State required it be weighed.

Using actual scaled weight when new, the stickered payload comes up short of rated GVWR minus scaled weight on mine as well. Not sure how Ford comes up with the payload number either.

They have a formula that calculates it. They published it in a tool once where you could see what your actual payload would be based on specific options. It was up for about a month and they took it down, no idea why -- was probably the most useful thing they've done in a decade.

Picking up mine next week, 9900 lb GVWR downgrade (registration reasons - dont get me started). Looking forward to seeing the paylod but hope it's at least like 2400-2600 lbs....

7.3L, ultimate, BAP, 5th wheel, winch, fixed steps, no sunroof, dual battery & 397 amp alt.

Based on my Limited, similar options with no downgrade being 3639, I'm predicting that your truck will be close to 2239.

I have everything you do plus the sunroof and I'm at 2480 with a 10,000 lb GVWR, so you will probably be about the same without the sunroof.

Test drove a ram 3500 limited, fully loaded with a payload of 3900lb with the diesel. Then went to ford and looked at a lariat tremor with less equipment and it only had 3200lb, why is ford so low on the payload compared to dodge. The dodge gvwr was also 11800 instead of 11500

Plain and simple the Ford weighs more than the Ram. Having a extra 300lbs of GVWR just widens the gap. Who knows maybe Ford will answer Ram with the next update with higher GVWR on the CCSB. I suspect that extra GVWR is part of the reason that the Ram 3500 rides like Sh*% empty in my opinion.
