Transfer Flow 58 gallon replacement tanks are finally being sold and installed!!!!

Yes! @modified is working with Teri and Tim at TransferFlow. They're definitely interested in doing something for us, so hoping it all works out. Stay tuned!
I don’t need a larger fuel tank. I don’t need a larger fuel tank. I don’t need a larger fuel tank. I don’t need a larger fuel tank. I need a larger…no! Bad fingers!

A larger bladder will need installed if getting a larger tank. Let the development begin! 🥼

Days of hitting up every rest stop are over.

I prefer to stop at quiet exits in the middle of nowhere if I need a break (when possible), rather than gas stations or official rest stops. Stay away from other humans lol.

So the larger tank would still be beneficial for me.

I also regularly drive into BC where gas prices are notably more expensive, so with the larger tank I could minimize how much I need to buy up north.

But ya, bladder factor is a real consideration!

I can relate completely. I probably drink more liquid than the 7.3 lol.

How did the install go? Pretty painless with the connectors or a ton of roadblocks? Plus, mind attaching a possible picture of a side view? I heard it comes down slightly lower than stock tank. Congrats though on the upgrade, can't wait to place my order possibly when/if group buy opens up.
Here you go, I had a shop do it. They didn’t have any issues. It does hang down a lot further than I was hoping… all the extra volume is captured by going down…

I appreciate it very much! I don't think it'll be much concern with how it looks. But I definitely agree with the other members about the getting to choose locations to fill up / take a break vs having to stop anytime the truck sees a exit ramp w/ fuel. Maybe adding 37s will make up the difference of the tank drop 🤣.

How much did the shop charge you and how long did they have your truck?

In 2017 and 2020, TransferFlow had offered Black Friday discounts of 20%, but sadly nothing that substantial since. Personally disappointed that they wouldn't offer a better discount than the approximately 5% discount that the $150 equates to. At this price, I'd likey defer this purchase for at least a year as my fuel tank capacity to bladder ratio is sufficient that I won't run out of gas before I need a biobreak.

I do wonder if their installers/dealers buy the tanks at their retail price or if they get the tanks at a wholesale rate. If so, giving the forum members a similar discount would result in no lost margin than if we purchased the tanks from an installers. SDHQ is an installer and wonder if we could get a group buy through them (if they buy at wholesale), but would only make sense if the tanks drop shipped from TransferFlow (to avoid added shipping costs).

While they would likely get the receive the revenue over time at full price, cash flow now (even at a discount) is usually better than over time as the cash injection helps with free cash flow and net working capital, especially if cost of goods sold is covered. I imagine their margins would be sufficient to provide a better discount while still maintaining profitability.

I'd love to have the extra capacity for fuel sooner than later. Not so much for the max single trip range, but for when I'm at the pump. I get a lot of reward points from filling up transfer ambulances at my second job. So getting the maximal 50c-1$ off a gallon for redeeming those points pay off over time. (Normally it cuts of 25-30 gallons depending where I go. One place does 35 gallons). I just hate running my tank low just to get the most savings (Especially in winter and snow).

I have done the math. At 1$ off over 30 gallons a fill up. ($3k) It'll take 100 fuel trips. Or filling up once a month, 8 years to make my money back on discounts. But I plan this to be a much longer than a 8 year truck.

Edit/PS: I wish $150 was more, but I'll still probably end up buying sooner if no other deals show up or planned. Kinda doubtful from DTX having good knowledge of company hx.

Looks like the best discount we can get from Transfer Flow with a group buy is around $150 off. Is there any interest at that price point?
I'd probably be interested for double that. $3-400ish

Looks like they have stock we could help move.
At least a 10% discount before I’d commit…

Only $3500 installed! Where do I sign up? Oh, and then add a lift kit to maintain ground clearance. /s

Anyone know roughly how long it takes to install? I really like my truck but for the life of me I can't understand why Ford put this sippy cup of a fuel tank in a truck that weighs 7000 pounds with a big block V8. I didn't buy it for mpg, but it would be nice to go more than 275 miles to a tank in the winter.

I’d say most installers can do one in 6-8 hours. In your garage with proper tools it’s a one day job.
