Transfer Flow 58 gallon replacement tanks are finally being sold and installed!!!!

For those who don't know, last year I created a survey to show transfer flow that there is a market for a replacement extended fuel tank in the gas super duty lineup. Currently you can only get a transfer tank in the bed of the truck, not a tank that will replace the OEM gas tank. Transfer flow was impressed by the overwhelming positive response and started designing a tank. I just received an email from my contact at transfer flow this morning, and the tank is finished! They have a date with the CARB, which have to approve the tank for use in California, where Transfer Flow is headquartered, before production can begin.

The tank is 58 gallons and fits crew cab short bed trucks. They said a different tank would have to be designed for crew cab long beds and other configurations. They do plan a crew cab long bed tank, it is unclear if that would be larger than 58 gallons. The tank should be about $2,000, but the final price is not set yet.

Edit: forgot to put that they are hoping to release by April.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the initial survey, it worked!
Outstanding work! Thank you.

I got my transfer flow tank installed in December and have had no problems until this past 2 weeks where, as I fill up at the gas pump everything goes fine until the tank fills up to the top. The gas pump clicks off but then a gush of gas flies out the from the tank opening. Has happened on last 3 fill ups at different pumps. Anyone seen this before or any ideas what's wrong?
Just as a follow up to this. We couldn't figure out the issue easily so TransferFlow just replaced the tank. Great customer support and service

I had a P0496 code three weeks after install. Bad soleniod in the evap valve. But I think mine has been bad for a while and was not due to the transferflow tank. The extra carbon canister on the tank just exaggerated the problem and finally made the check engine light come on.
Got that a couple times with stock 34 gallon tank. But, aftermarket locking caps. Replaced with stock non locking cap recently after 3 years of using locking cap w/o issues. Haven't scanned codes yet to see if the "permanent" one is still there though.

How do you know it's the solenoid?

Wow. Great CS. Maybe weld could've failed?? I'm sure they do some type of pressure test prior to sending them out though. Could be extra air volume in it throwing computer? Extra gas fumes from xtra gas volume sloshing around??? Would be nice to find out the culprit. I'm sure swapping tanks that large and however heavy can't be much fun.

That was the mechanics best guess, but even before the swap to the new tank everytime I opened the lid it would release a lot of pressure in a whoosh so that makes me think i had a bad solenoid for a while. But now I am getting P0451 after replacing that soldenoid, so now its back to the d,rawing board. Took a look while changing my oil today and there was grime/fuel all over the place down there.

Wilco - I have a follow-up appointment with the installer in about 200 miles.
Follow up on this - took the truck in this morning and they did an evap test on it and it passed. I had them put a note on file that it threw codes at one point. But for now it is good.

That's good to hear. Did you manually clear the original code or did it go away on its own?

Welp I'm at a complete loss on figuring out whats wrong with this tank, replaced both valves and gas cap trying to get rid of the check engine light for P0496 and P0451 codes and they still are popping up. Transferflow tech support hasn't given any support on figuring it out, they just sent the install instructions again.

That’s super disappointing because I really wanted one of those…

This makes me wonder if they are even receiving the emails. I had something out to them about a code and never had a response either.

I called, the tech I talked to was no help at all and had no idea what I was even talking about.

I have had my Transfer Flow tank installed in my 2022 F 250 Tremor now for about 6 months. The gas gauge never "autoadjusted" to read 500 miles remaining. Still showing 320 miles when 58 gallon tank full. So I did the Forscan reprograming of the truck software to put in the 58 gallon number and 219 L in the IPC module of the truck software. Despite this, the truck gas gauge still reads 320 miles to go when full. I was talking to a Ford service tech and he seemed to this the fuel pump needed changed. I know Class C RVs built on the E 450 chassis have a 55 gallon tank. I am not sure what the problem is. Any Ideas how I can get the gas gauge to read correctly?

You don't have to change the liters.

You have to change the Fuel Level Source from PMC to IPC.

Step 13 specifically.

Wow that is awesome. This is definitely on my wish list one of these days. Coming from my F150 with the 36gal tank and the close to 700 mile range, the f250 with the 34gal tank and around 400 mile range is taking some getting used to with traveling for work.
