So, has anyone done the install themselves vice having a shop do it?

We held off on the big tank due to issues with previous truck. Now interested in doing it. But, we moved so now 6 hours from nearest installer vice 2.

I am pretty handy on mechanical stuff so just wondering if this can be done in a driveway.

From reading posts as this thread has grown. There are members that have done the swap themselves.

Here are the install instructions (at least from late 2022) if that helps with understanding of what is involved.

I did the installation myself, I am a Ford Senior Master technician, but the install can be done by anyone that has a decent mechanical background. The one thing I've seen is people use impacts on the fuel tank strap bolts and break the nut cages. At no point should an impact be used to remove the bolts! Once the nut starts to spin in the cage the fun begins at that moment. It's listed in the instructions I believe, but so many people feel the need to not read them. Pretty big tank to man handle on the ground though. A lift is a great benefit on this job for-sure.

If you have a level hard surface to work on, this type of lift will work great for installing the new tank. You can pick them up at a number of retailers for under $250 and they will serve many other uses after you have finished with your tank installation. They even work as a motorcycle lift.

Best price I can find on line is Northern Tool.

That's good to hear, i've been straight ghosted on emails regarding a popped code after the install of mine.

Just heard from Teri at Transferflow.. they're still waiting on CARB approval for the 23 tank.... no estimate on when it will be received, but hoping it will be soon.

I messaged them last week... Haven't heard anything but this works. Same build for a 24 so I'm sure once they get the approval, I'll just grab one for the 24.

Update from Teri-

"The tank is ready to go with everything we need except for the CARB EO, which we are still awaiting. Once we get it, I will reach out to you. Your name is at the top of our contact list. 😊"

The 2023s are for sale now, got mine installed today, fyi.
Nice.

To bad you didn't wait a little... There's potentially a group buy in the near future. Could have gotten a little discount.

How did the install go? Pretty painless with the connectors or a ton of roadblocks? Plus, mind attaching a possible picture of a side view? I heard it comes down slightly lower than stock tank. Congrats though on the upgrade, can't wait to place my order possibly when/if group buy opens up.

Yes! @modified is working with Teri and Tim at TransferFlow. They're definitely interested in doing something for us, so hoping it all works out. Stay tuned!
