Transfer Flow 58 gallon replacement tanks are finally being sold and installed!!!!

I have an aluminized steel auxiliary tank on my Land Rover. I will take that Rover over or through damn near anything and that tank hanging out back has the dents and gouges to prove it. Not saying you couldn’t puncture it, because I know you can, but they will stand up to abuse.

I wouldn’t let that fear keep me from extending the range that significantly. Having more than enough fuel brings its own kind of peace when you are out in BFE.

Ya it’s a good idea, no question

I would say there will be far more in places you can go with "more" fuel, than you will miss with 1" less ground clearance! Best mod I made to my truck was the larger tank.
Hey, man. You are right. Your comment really got me thinking and it changed my mind. I "hate" you for having me spend more money though ha ha :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:. No, it's all good. I really appreciate your feedback and I think I have been too stubborn focusing on the clearance only. I talked to my offroad shop earlier today and placed the order.

I'm planning on this being very high on the list for my 23 when they do the updates to the tank to fit my truck.

The problem is it took about a year I think from the time TF decided they were interested in designing one for the previous model years until the time that the tank was being sold and installed. So it could be a wait for us that have or are getting a 23' gas and want one of these tanks. It seems like the concept is proven and I would expect them to want do a redesign if needed to sell to new trucks. Just going to be a wait.

I'm getting the new tank installed at Transfer Flow in Chico in a couple of weeks. I noticed someone posted a link for the usb/OBD cord to use with FORScan. Looks like $60.00 from Amazon. There are several less expensive cords listed for sale. Anyone know if there's anything special about the more costly cord?

You're spending $3k on a new tank. Just spend the $60 and get the recommended cable then you don't have to worry about something glitching when making programming changes.

Other cables probably work fine, but it's recommended for a reason so I'd rather not chance it.

I hear you on not being a cheapskate. The link I saw posted was as far as I looked on the thread. Just checking.

I and many others have used the OBDLink EX with good success. Others have had communication issues with lesser quality interfaces. I would say if it is listed on the Forscan site it's a safe bet. Just get one of the hardwired versions!

I got the one for $60 last year and never regretted it. Made so many changes to Forscan already and it works!!!! Well worth the money if you ask me.

I am getting my tank installed in July, but from a local shop. Can't wait to hit the gas station after that :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Here is an update on my experience with the TF tank. Its fantastic.

I had my TF 58 gal tank installed a few months ago. The installer did not push one of the quick connect fuel lines in properly and I sprang a massive leak on the way home from the install. If I remember correctly, what I found was there is a flange on the metal fuel line that was difficult to push in far enough for the locking clip to catch. The installer missed it. It took me several attempts to get it pushed in far enough to lock. Once I fixed the connection/leak myself I have had no problems since.

The tank is great! I hunt in remote areas far from gas stations often. I spent a good amount of time in the Gila in New Mexico during April and May this year hunting turkeys. Having all the extra gasoline on-board was awesome.

I haven’t mustered up the nerve to use FORSCAN to update the tank size yet. But I will so I can receive more accurate DTE readings.

This is my second TF gasoline tank. I had one on a Toyo Tundra before. They are well built and very durable. I smacked the Tundra tank on rocks a number of times wo damage. I expect the Ford TF tank to be as tough.

Today I followed the excellent instructions at this link
https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14698 and updated my fuel tank size. The distance to empty jumped from 175 miles to 368 miles after I did the update. I found that it is important to follow the second forscan update (for 2020+ F-Series) in the instructions and change the Fuel Level Source Parameter from PCM to IPC. After I updated the tank gallons I botched this second step and did not save it. The DTE reading did not change. When I went back and updated the fuel level source to IPC the DTE reading changed from 175 mi to 368 mi.

It is so awesome that people take the time on the forscan forum to post instructions and people on the Tremor Forum post links to them. Y’all are awesome!

I just used the OBDLInkEX device to update my fuel tank size. I used it on a pretty old laptop with windows 10 and it was super easy to set up and use. I have no experience with FORSCAN and average tech skills. I recommend spending the money on the recommended device(s).

I have been using this one from Amazon for 2 years with no issues. ( I used Microsoft)

Don't be afraid of Forscan! It's really pretty easy once you get into it. Lots of instructional video's out there. I'm 66 years young and not very tech savy and I have had no issues with it. Just be sure to save a back up file of your original settings before you do anything, just in case...

If you are around Sacramento you can borrow my cable and laptop to update. Feel free to PM me. It was easy to update my F-350 after I got the tank installed.

Thanks for the offer! I bought the cable and will good to go once I have the tank installed on the 19th.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on this sooner rather than later. I know I got an answer above but always want multiple inputs. Who is the go to installer for this in the Phoenix, Az area?

I've seen other recommend SDHQ in Gilbert, but Transfer Flow has a list of recommended installers:
